Jesus Christ. How do you even get water that contaminated?? That doesn’t show up overnight.

ms_lane@lemmy.world · 39 pts · 34d

Mosquitos lay eggs in stagnant water, eggs to larvae can happen overnight.

But it still requires stagnant water, I'd be more worried about the bacterial load than the wrigglers.

From my deep dive back in Y2K days, potable water is no joke. It was one reason why I gave up on the pursuit of prepping then and said whatever happens happens. So the answer is simple, stop trying to keep the water fresh. It doesn't take long.

Just turn off the disinfectant.

Those are mosquito larvae. Saw them all the time growing up in Florida.

I don't think humans can get heart worms, but this is why you give dogs heartworm pills. They drink water like this when dogging around in the warm south and get the parasite.

TipRing@lemmy.world · 8 pts · 33d (1 reply)

Humans can get heart worm but we are poor hosts and the parasite doesn't usually live very long. Also, it is a blood borne parasite spread by mosquitoes

Interesting. Scabies are also species biased.

These ICE processing and detention centers need to be flipped around, to process and detain ICE...

dan1101@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 33d

That is exactly what needs to happen.

Poor water quality at concentration camp? Hopefully that's the worst thing they have to deal with (note: strongly condemn ICE)

“It is the same water used by residents and businesses in the area,”

Given the erosion of municipal infrastructure due to corruption at every level of government, this probably isn't the ironclad defense he thinks it is

ms_lane@lemmy.world · 8 pts · 34d

Mosquito larvae most likely.

nothingcorporate@lemmy.today · 7 pts · 33d

Why was an ICE agent swimming in the drinking water?

sem@piefed.blahaj.zone · 3 pts · 34d

I thought the cops were the worm like creatures at first, drinking water.
