How would you feel about The Truman Show?

Too boring. Would have been cancelled when I was a boring little kid. Who's going to watch someone play with Legos for 16 fucking hours straight?

If I'd be honest, probably the first thing that I would feel is embarrassment, thinking that the thousand time plus that I beat the meat would look like the movie Shame from 2011

I’d feel really bad for the actors they made me watch die. I'd also wonder how they got the cameras to follow me across the world (twice) without me noticing.

Where’s my love interest? Why is everything setup to be so shitty in terms of geopolitics and the economy and such? And finally, the viewers better be laughing at my jokes at least.

How would you feel about the fact that they made the Jim Carrey movie and put it where you could see it?

I don't think the Morisetteian irony of watching a movie that's equally fucked up in its premise as you found out your life is would move the needle much. The rug would've been pulled out from under you and this wouldn't cause more than a wry bored smile a couple of weeks later when the shock has subsided a bit.

Probably a bit miffed at what absolute shit writers my show had. Cause this sucks.

I was raised religious. I always felt that if there really was a God, I existed solely to be a subject of cruel comedy for it. I think if I found out I was being Truman Show-ed, I’d immediately feel vindicated. Then I’d feel incredibly nihilistic and let’s just say I wouldn’t bother trying to escape or let the show continue.

Laugh at how much money they would have lost, my life isn't interesting at all to watch, it would have been cancelled years ago.

If I found out today I was in a show, I'd do everything in my power to end the lives of everyone tangentially involved. It would mean my life was already meaningless, so there's no risk in throwing it away.

actually i do sometimes think that life is in some sense a drama (theater stage), and what we perform is often at least as important as what we actually do in reality.

i.e. there's a whole lot of symbolic interactions throughout the day. for example every time that we speak to someone. it doesn't change reality, but another person's mind, so it's a symbolic interaction.

I've always felt like the best lies have at least two layers. You think you've seen through something and can feel satisfied about it, so now you can stop looking. Otoh there weren't people with "Truman Show psychosis" before that movie and there were after, so maybe it wouldn't have been the best choice.

I used to have same imagination in childhood. Interesting thought, and wish it would be so. At least that would explain why everything is turning dark....
