i mean, that's how they would have pronounced it back then, I don't like him I just want to be accurate

Onomatopoeia@lemmy.cafe · 6 pts · 19d (5 replies)

That is technically correct (the best kind of correct!)

However, English is on the western (and time) side of the C/K split, so it's "see-zar".

I'm curious how it's pronounced in Italian today, being the language closest to Latin.

being the language closest to Latin.

Interestingly I think Romanian is a bit closer actually

they pronounce it kaisar

Skullgrid@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 19d

Idfk, I'm just repeating why that difference exists in game , so it seems extra ironic that they are trying to do things accurately and failing

knowing how it's supposed to be pronounced, but pronouncing it "seeser" out of spite

Reminds me of when our class were put into groups, for a presentation on specifically Hitler's rise to power.
My group were dedicated, so dedicated, we wanted to go first. We got top marks right there and then.

The next group persistently pronounced it as "Nay-Zees".
The subject matter was okay, but it's been just over 26 years and I still think about it...

Have they also told you about the end of Hitler's jug?

Been like 8 years since Ive done a NV playthrough, and I can't decide if I want to do a mod pack or wait till remaster.

Console_Modder@sh.itjust.works · 15 pts · 19d (2 replies)

If the New Vegas remaster is going to be anything like the Oblivion remaster, then you can probably get the same experience with some texture and lighting mods

Ferrous@lemmy.ml · 4 pts · 19d (1 reply)

Huh.. I assumed the oblivion remaster at least added some stability, so then I looked it up, and I was wrong. Apparently the oblivion remaster had the same level of stability of the original at best. Good advice. I've heard good things about viva new vegas...

Binturong@lemmy.ca · 8 pts · 19d

Viva New Vegas is good, look into Tale of Two Wastelands too, both are wabbajcak supported, and there's probably a lot of crossover in mods.
