Hey guys, I’m playing Pandemic Legacy and I was the first to eradicate the red virus so now I get to name it! Let me know if you have any good exocomics-related names :D

If you don’t know what Pandemic Legacy is then shhh don’t worry.

Abandon the cloud, embrace p2p filesharing. KDE Connect and localsend are both great apps

Kde connect almost made me tear up the first time I used it. The anguish I had to go through to upload a file or picture every once in a while to my desktop. Then I find kde and boom there it is.

i use warpinator personally

Hell yes. KDE Connect is a big reason why Plasma is my favorite desktop environment.

CorrenteAlternata@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 7 pts · 7d (1 reply)

Fun fact! You can use KDE Connect even on Windows, macOS and Android.

Useful to transfer stuff between my devices, or to use my phone as a remote control when I'm watching a movie on the couch!!

(and I'm pretty sure that, on linux, you don't need plasma to use it)

isyasad@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 7d

I've been using it on Windows for a long time.
Last weekend I switched my Windows 11 laptop to CachyOS with plasma and it was preinstalled and connected to my phone seamlessly 🀯

Syncthing works very well for continuous synchronization between many devices, including phones (android at least), just set up and forget

rumschlumpel@feddit.org · 2 pts · 7d (2 replies)

My experience with Syncthing between PC and phone was pretty bad. Maybes it work better when you aren't running GrapheneOS ...

riwo@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 2 pts · 7d

i had a lot of trouble with syncthing while using the sync-up client on android, but now that i switched to basic sync it works pretty well :3

ignotum@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 7d

I have only been running it on stock android, but using a forked client i found on F-droid, maybe i switched because the official one had issues, i can't quite remember

rumschlumpel@feddit.org · 1 pts · 7d (1 reply)

TIL KDE connect can be used for file sharing. The last time I tried it, I think I used it as a touchpad for a Raspberry Pi or something like that ...

black0ut@pawb.social · 1 pts · 7d

It even works on windows, supposedly.

I tried installing it once and it didn't work, but I suspect it was windows' fault. I never tried again on that cursed OS. Nothing seems to ever work right, lol.

If they could learn they wouldn't be so stupid to begin with.
