Great timing, hell was running low on broccoli due to routinely forcefeeding them to everyone. (For the record I don't mind broccoli, in fact one of my go-to meals is mashing it into mash potato until the whole thing turns bright green and then you have it with sausages and gravy, now that's a meal.)

Broccoli is supposed to taste good. Steam it, cool it down, then put olive oil on it.

This but add lots of garlic

This but broil it instead of steaming it.

I like broccoli. And brussels sprouts.

The reason it is such a recurring theme is that broccoli and sprouts were cultivated to taste good over time. In the recent past, they had a more bitter taste which lead to some generations disliking them.

Also that in the recent past, people didn't know how to cook.
I grew up with my parents serving me bland and mushy broccoli, and I hated it.
Now I cook broccoli oven roasted, or pan-cooked and slightly blackened, tossed in olive oil, seasoned well with salt and pepper. Maybe soy and garlic instead if I'm feeling it. Always al-dente and absolutely fucking delicious.
If I cooked broccoli the way my parents used to, it would still taste like shit - genetically sweeter or not.

There is nothing worse to the eyes than that sickly yellow-green color of massively overcooked broccoli.

With garlic, olive oil and good seasoning you could make anything taste good.

Broccoli is an excellent vehicle for mayonaise.
