Oh, no.
Anyway...

cybervseas@lemmy.world · 31 pts · 18d (12 replies)

Oh, yes.

Been a while since it's felt like the people have any power.

adarza@lemmy.ca · 28 pts · 18d (11 replies)

they'll just start hiding them better.. and in places that are most certainly a bad idea to tamper with, like embedded right inside stop lights

shininghero@pawb.social · 15 pts · 18d

Nothing that can't be fixed with one of those 1000 mW handheld lasers.

dan1101@lemmy.world · 9 pts · 18d (6 replies)

Yeah this is the sort of thing we now have to stay vigilant about. Companies, state and local officials, and law enforcement all want a 24/7 queryable surveillance network to happen.

hamsamrich@lemmy.world · 13 pts · 18d (5 replies)

Would be crazy if the general public became aware of axon too!

Malyca@lemmy.zip · 5 pts · 18d (3 replies)

Not just axon, there's more :(

grue@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 17d (2 replies)

Name them if you can, please.

dan1101@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 17d

We need to start gathering signatures for recall elections when our elected officials go rogue and start approving data centers and mass warrantless surveillance.

Malyca@lemmy.zip · 5 pts · 18d (1 reply)

They have drones that record from up high now

cy888@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 17d

Drones have to come down for fuel. Used mainly when there is a suspected target, not for general surveillance

4am@lemmy.zip · 1 pts · 17d

The they’ll learn that it’s expensive to hide them there, and they’ll have to leave a note about that to their successors when they get voted the FUCK out

garretble@lemmy.world · 40 pts · 18d (5 replies)

My city sadly just voted to renew a contract for another year.

No one wanted this shit, but it happened anyway.

neidu3@sh.itjust.works · 18 pts · 17d (1 reply)

For completely unrelated reasons, I just want to point out that it's two months until Halloween... I think a masked person with a bayonet saw is what's cool this year.

compuglobalhypermeganet@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 11 pts · 17d

I am so impressed with this solution. I've been shitting on the idea of Halloween for my whole life but I just changed my mind completely.

some_designer_dude@lemmy.world · 13 pts · 18d (1 reply)

You know what you have to do…

taco@anarchist.nexus · 9 pts · 17d

And it'll clearly work if you do enough of it, based on the OP.

turtlesareneat@piefed.ca · 2 pts · 17d

They just stuck two up on Main Street in my city this past weekend, ballsy move as a half dozen nearby cities just terminated their contracts.

jontree255@lemmy.world · 24 pts · 17d (1 reply)

Make sure they don’t just switch to another vendor and when they do keep cutting those down.

plz1@sh.itjust.works · 3 pts · 17d

I think the Flock cameras are proprietary to their network, so the logistics of switching are that much harder. Love this type of news, either way.

Drusas@fedia.io · 12 pts · 18d

Good!

LodeMike@lemmy.today · 9 pts · 18d

Yay

VitoRobles@lemmy.today · 8 pts · 18d

Cute. I don't believe it for a second.

newthrowaway20@lemmy.world · 7 pts · 18d

Fuck their 'value'

mumblerfish@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 18d

The privacy aspect is obviously terrible of flock cameras. But this situation if fucking hilarious: Puts up cameras to prevent crimes -- crimes instead removes the cameras. Wooow, really proving how effective they are at preventing crimes huh?! It's almost as the whole thing just demonstrates its all about the police having the power to stalk unknowing victims and not preventing crimes.

DragonAce@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 18d

Good!! Keep it up guys, they're slowly starting to get the message.

elevenbones@sh.itjust.works · 5 pts · 18d (1 reply)

But they're still keeping some value: cops can use the ones that still work to stalk women 👌

taco@anarchist.nexus · 3 pts · 17d

And keep up with sports.

DarrinBrunner@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 18d

Let's put the cunt Garrett Langley on the unemployment line.

lechekaflan@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 17d

Smash them up!

melroy@kbin.melroy.org · 2 pts · 18d

Good

resipsaloquitur@lemmy.cafe · 2 pts · 16d

What day is Halloween on?

Prox@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 18d

Fuck 'em
