Too expensive. That'll cut into my CEO's yacht/jet money.

America is a slave nation. The higher ups own the wage slaves.

Its not white vs black, its rich vs poor.

Soon you'll be getting whipped for stepping out of line.

Those at the top always make sure those before them have someone to punch down so their eyes never land on the true problem.

Loosely translated from small amount of government regulation to corporate donors

Hmmm wonder who voted those Republicans in…

Same shit that leads to all the lettuce causing people to shit their brains out...

No adequate breaks or facilities, so they end up with far less than sanitary decisions.

At the end of the day if it's feed your family by shitting in the field rather than be homeless many choose to shit in the field.

PineRune@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 2d

I thought the lettuce problem was literal slave labor (forcing prisoners to work for pennies a day).

They should have to work a month in the most extreme weather they are stating its now ok to work in before its allowed to be passed.

Man... I think it would be hilarious if a democratic president created a "doge" like organization, except instead of blanket cutting the government, they just explicitly cut exactly what each politician chose to cut for normal people. IE everyone who voted for this, has the AC turned off in their office and is banned from the water cooler.

There have been calls here for legislators to be forced to live an elderly care home for a week. It sadly hasn't happened.

Again, elect me your president and I'll create a new uniformed service subject to the UCMJ called the Corps of Engineers, in which service will be mandatory for all citizens, a prerequisite to voting, owning a business, serving as an officer, board member or shareholder of a corporation or running for political office. Imagine the US Army Corps of Engineers scaled larger than the Army and Navy combined, their mission: To build, repair and maintain public works infrastructure within United States territory. You're going to march, you're going to salute officers, you're going to wear a uniform with rank insignia, and you're going to build the infrastructure that carries the United States into to the 22nd century. We'll give you exemptions if you serve in the military, or if you serve longer in, say, the Post Office or certain other common good public services. I figure 6 years of delivering mail should count the same as 4 years of paving highways. Service in the armed forces also counts, though I'd rather focus constructive efforts within than destructive efforts without.

The rich have always fucked over the poor. 12 hour work days, payment in company scrip instead of USD, no breaks, etc etc. It's always been bad. It will continue to be bad so long as they're in charge.

This is LIKELY referring to a texas law that was advanced 3 years ago banning local governments from implementing their own health and safety laws.

https://www.texastribune.org/2023/06/16/texas-heat-wave-water-break-construction-workers/ .

This post implies that it was done at the federal level, since it uses a picture of Johnson, the speaker of the US House of Reps.

I'd like to see any evidence that this is being done at the national level. Texas is it's own subset of dumbfuckery.

in before - "Well, it just shows what could happen" no -- we don't need to lie to imply falsehoods to exaggerate what's actually happening. There's plenty of bullshit out there that we don't need to make it up.

edit: See Folstar's comment below - I was not up to date on the shenanigans happening at the federal level.

On the one hand, they give individuals the freedom to decide whether to agree to the conditions. On the other hand, they make everyone so poor that saying no isn't really an option.
