The idea of Robin Hood operating during the reign of Richard I is a later retcon. In the original ballads, when a king is mentioned they're referred to as "Edward", although it's never specified which King Edward is being referenced.

Who is confused? Nobody knows the Robin Hood mythology enough to care. Feels like an agenda being pushed to criticize a depiction of how to overthrow our wealthy overlords, and they don't like it.

Robin Hood is forever, long live Robin Hood. Eat the rich.
