We've named this stray Larry

He keeps coming around but gets scared off anytime we go near him. Looks a little thin like he could use a good meal. I'm going to keep trying every time we see him he stays a little longer.

What I've done in the past to make new furry friends is when I'd see them, I would put a few treats out and back away. Don't leave, just hang back far enough and sit down so the kitty feels safe enough to get the treat while still seeing that you were responsible for it. Next time do the same thing, except slightly closer. Rinse and repeat until the cat starts feeling comfortable around you and associates you with tasty treats. Don't try and give them too much attention, let them have time to trust you. Sometimes it works right away, some cats take a few months. One stray cat took me nearly two years before I could pet her. ( She is sleeping on my couch right now.)

It doesn't work 100%, some cats are just a little too sketched to trust people, but I've made friends with around 25 cats in the last 7 years that way. There's a lot of strays around here, I've been taking them in and getting them fixed as money allows. (about 14 of them so far, been concentrating especially on the girls to stop the kitten problem)

I'll try what your suggesting, thanks. He seems too thin to be someones pet so I'm hoping I can get him to trust me.

Good luck! All the kitties deserve a good scritch and plenty of treats, even if they don't always realize it right away. This was my front porch a while back when I accidentally dropped a bag of treats, they were happy to help me clean it up.

This person cats. And does so very well!

Lol Thanks! I don't know about that, but I try. I just can't handle seeing cats that have been neglected/ignored so I do what I can with the little I have. I can't work full time because of health issues so I have plenty of time to make new furry friends. One of the boys marked me so they technically own me now.

That's the tail of a cat that wants to be friends.

It's saying "hello human! I'm interested in learning about you! And maybe pets!"

We used to have a cat called Max. He was all white. One of the neighbours had a white cat that would wander past our house sometimes, we ended up naming him "Notmax", b cause we would see him and say "is that Max? - no it's not max"

Good choice. He looks like a Larry.

He may be shy now but he looks like he's destined to be a lap cat one day 🐈

Hope you post "progress" pics 🥰 that looks like a shy guy who will eventually adopt you.

Hi larry.

This one is Richard. He lives in our barn. Moved in a few months back. We trapped and had him neutered, and this was him being groggy when we released him back into the barn.

He’s been living there happily for about three months since this pic.

Nice. I wonder if Larry would stay with you if you give him bread.
