The pastry is somehow a mix of underbaked and stale, the frosting is like licking dental concrete, and the jam fillings bear near zero resemblance to the flavour or texture of jams.
Kelloggs has become a shitty company. They moved a bunch of their operations out of Battle Creek Michigan (where the company started) to Grand Rapids Michigan (a conservative hub) to screw over the unions.
The company already had a weird origin. The first guy make the flakes bland on purpose.
Kellogg believed in foods that would not excite the passions. This meant vegetarianism. It also meant combatting what was considered the debilitating scourge of masturbation.
The younger brother then added sugar and mass marketed the stuff without mentioning the weird origin.
My favorite part of a new product is the inaugural period where they offer overmuch to incentivize habitual purchases going forward. Pop tarts are well beyond that.
I hadn't had toaster strudel in like 15+ years and was oddly craving them about a year ago. Got some and was super disappointed. Idk how much of it was enshitification vs my tastes changing. It may be best to leave toaster strudel as a memory.
There's like 40 grams of sugar in a pop tart. The recommended daily intake is 10 grams. That is 4 times the limit before you even count the other pop tart or the ice cream.

“King” size candy bags. I remember when that was the regular size.

Do people actually like pop tarts?

I don't think I've ever read a more accurate description of a pop tart

I brought some as cheap, light calories when doing a hiking trip. They quickly went from 'hey not too bad' to 'why god, do I have 6 more of these'

I don't like them, but they satisfy the sweet craving I guess.

Hate to break it to you but the company was that bad from the start. Union busting is arguably the least of their crimes.

Ok they're getting worse and worser and are now worsest.

Same with Oreos. "Double Stuff" is what the regular ones used to have.

I've never been a fan of pop tarts but I have to check the store next time and see if they still sell toaster strudels.
Those were the shit.

Take poptarts of choice, pop in freezer. Cut poptart sized block of ice cream and sandwich between your frozen poptarts.
You're welcome.
