That's so fucked. It's almost as if the government doesn't want to care for it's constituents and hopes the private sector will provide these services instead.
As if those in positions to implement these systems are capitalists...
I do volunteer work in Toronto and within the past couple years that absolute massive increase in homeless seniors, middle-aged women, etc is staggering. Never before have I seen so many women in their 50s and older being homeless. never. So many older men also. And the problem is the system can't cater to them because it's never had to before. And these people are so damn exposed.
I said years ago that the homeless population was going to change and we're seeing it now. The days of everyone saying "oh it's just drug addicts and mentally ill people who are homeless" are long gone. I see it every week in food lines and clothing hand outs. the vast majority now are seniors, middle-aged people who lost their jobs, mentally fit individuals that are financially screwed. and the terrifying thing is people forget that drug use and mental illness are a symptom of homelessness. I'm seeing men in their 70s turning to drug use to cope. NEVER have I seen that before.
we're screwed. we are collectively straight up screwed.

We need proportional representation for real accountability.

I believe the capitalist plan for the aged and unhealthy is well documented in the Soylent Corporation's prospectus.

On one hand, these boomers and elderly created these problems.... your generation was in charge the last 40 years!!!
But of course as a decent society we need to help them....
But sometimes i dream about letting leopards eat faces...
but of course we shouldnt let that happen

Sorry to break this to you, but these days, most GenXers are 50+, and we were never in charge of anything.
