Stroll only 10 places behind his teammate. At this rate he might even make Q2! /s

Edit: No, he didn't want that.

BaskinRobbins@sh.itjust.works · 8 pts · 2y

Lol this aged beautifuly

Microw@lemm.ee · 3 pts · 2y

You mean, he wanted it too much

alphacyberranger@sh.itjust.works · 2 pts · 2y

Aged like fine milk

TastyWheat@lemmy.world · 20 pts · 2y (4 replies)

Is this real life?

Sentau@lemmy.one · 6 pts · 2y (3 replies)

Or is this fantasy?

espentan@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 2y (2 replies)

Caught in a landslide..

TastyWheat@lemmy.world · 13 pts · 2y

Liam Lawson into Q3...

Ecksell@lemmy.one · 0 pts · 2y

No escape from reality...

bernieecclestoned@sh.itjust.works · 19 pts · 2y (4 replies)

Get in there Lawson!

wes@lemmy.world · 8 pts · 2y (2 replies)

Ricciardo: chuckles “I’m in danger”

xHoudek@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 2y (1 reply)

I think you mean Yuki

wes@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 2y

Could be both really

bhmnscmm@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 2y

Forget about him replacing Checo. He's going to be replacing Max.

/s

lazycouchpotato@lemmy.world · 16 pts · 2y (2 replies)

Sainz 👏👏

Edit: Kmag P6. Well done. Don't know if he can hold onto it though.

Lawson also did pretty well with P10.

karnoff@lemdro.id · 4 pts · 2y

The haas will pit early tomorrow and be about p16, p17 by lap 15

JJROKCZ@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 2y

No chance haas doesn’t screw it up even if kmag himself doesn’t screw it up

hagelslager@feddit.nl · 15 pts · 2y

With the RBs out at Q2, we hopefully have some nice overtaking tomorrow. Too bad Albon didn't make it out of Q2 either.

TastyWheat@lemmy.world · 14 pts · 2y

What a qualy. That is all. Race is going to be awesome tomorrow.

SlicingBot@lemmy.ml · 10 pts · 2y (1 reply)

I just realized that both Haas are in Q3. I wonder if they will have the race pace tomorrow to get some points.

espentan@lemmy.world · 9 pts · 2y

Historically they burn up their tires too quickly and start falling back. This is a low deg track, though, so maybe..

UESPA_Sputnik@feddit.de · 9 pts · 2y

I just wanted to tune in for the final minutes of qualifying and fast forward through Q1 and Q2. That didn't work out. 😄

I'm appalled how long it took (once again) for the red flags to appear after Scroll's crash. With such a big crash and a car sliding right onto the racing line that should be a split-second decision.

Sentau@lemmy.one · 9 pts · 2y

Sainz and russell have been on fire since the break. Both beating more fancied teammates consistently

hydrashok@sh.itjust.works · 9 pts · 2y (3 replies)

Wow, I never thought that would have happened. If RB wants to continue their streaks, they definitely have their work cut out for them.

Ferrari and Mercedes looking really solid.

EddoWagt@feddit.nl · 9 pts · 2y (1 reply)

This is absolutely the chance for another team to win, it's going to be really tough for red bull tomorrow. P10 with 2 penalties pending, might be a 6 point grid penalty. P16 for Verstappen... Wouldn't be surprised if they break parc ferme to try to fix that setup

espentan@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 2y

I'm not sure if RB even has the race pace to challenge Ferrari, Mercedes and McLaren, on this track.

espentan@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 2y

I'm really curious as to what it is that makes this track so difficult for them.

Naminreb@kbin.social · 8 pts · 2y

Those Ferraris look awesome! Perfectly tuned to the circuit.

Sentau@lemmy.one · 5 pts · 2y

What the hell is going on¿?

alphacyberranger@sh.itjust.works · 5 pts · 2y

Was going to be a banger of a Q1 and then this happened. Atleast he's okay.

Million@lemmy.zip · 5 pts · 2y (1 reply)

That was a real good and interesting qualifying session 👍🏼 will see if there are penalties dishes out still.

hydrashok@sh.itjust.works · 2 pts · 2y

I don't know if they'll do anything for the pit lane one, but I expect some penalty for impeding in Q2.

lazycouchpotato@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 2y

Holy shit

BaskinRobbins@sh.itjust.works · 5 pts · 2y (6 replies)

Is there anyway Stroll loses his seat while his Dad owns the team? It's such a waste giving him such a fast car

espentan@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 2y

They'll have to discuss it at some point, if their goal will be to win WCCs.

Apparently their goal for this year is still to be second in the constructors, and with only ALO scoring good points that will be tricky.

argo_yamato@lemm.ee · 1 pts · 2y (3 replies)

Well he drives for Aston so maybe at some point he would step away from F1 and race their GT3 cars.

tankplanker@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 2y (2 replies)

I doubt it's totally unrelated that Aston are looking at a HyperCar entry for 2025, would be a good side benefit if it also gave Lance an out from F1

argo_yamato@lemm.ee · 1 pts · 2y (1 reply)

Would be nice for another Hypercar in WEC and possibly a GTP variant in IMSA.

tankplanker@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 2y

I would expect it to be competitive as well, probably have both Lance and Fernando in the car for Lemans at least

June@lemm.ee · 4 pts · 2y

RB needs a miracle to win tomorrow. Jesus. This is wild.

Naminreb@kbin.social · 4 pts · 2y (1 reply)

Helmut Marko probably making comments about how both Verstappen and Perez May not be with the team next year.

jalda@sopuli.xyz · 1 pts · 2y

That's on him for hiring two drivers from South America /s

espentan@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 2y

That was a heavy hit, for Stroll.

gerryflap@feddit.nl · 4 pts · 2y

Damn, Lawson knocking out Max in Q2... Something really went wrong at RB. And Alpha Tauri will have a hard choice somewhere this year. Lawson seems quite competitive, he deserves a seat. How patient will they be with Yuki if a rookie is threatening him like this

alphacyberranger@sh.itjust.works · 4 pts · 2y

Wow

espentan@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 2y

According to the graphics, we just went from red flag to yellow flag for sector 3.

herc@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 2y

My only wish is for the race to be competitive

bernieecclestoned@sh.itjust.works · 3 pts · 2y (2 replies)

Lol, sky missed the bleep on Max's radio

Oneobi@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 2y

Yah, my ears are still bleeding lol

Motecuhzoma@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 2y

Ouch Stroll

espentan@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 2y

That was a bit of a surprise, wasn't it..

Ecksell@lemmy.one · 3 pts · 2y (2 replies)

Has anyone ever gone P20 to P1 at this track in its history?

Microw@lemm.ee · 7 pts · 2y

Hamilton went P5 to P1, and that was because three cars ahead of him crashed out. No one ever won from a lower starting position.

Naminreb@kbin.social · 6 pts · 2y

Forget about P20 to P1: Pn to Pn-1.

I love the look of the Williams car this weekend

espentan@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 2y (1 reply)

Yeah, looks great. For a minute I thought it was McLaren who had ditched the stealth livery for the Gulf livery.

BaskinRobbins@sh.itjust.works · 2 pts · 2y

Haha I had the same thought

BowserDelta@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 2y

What in the name of salty zombie jesus is going on at RB???

Microw@lemm.ee · 2 pts · 2y (2 replies)

Yuki was about to improve and they pulled him into the pits? Wtf?

Sentau@lemmy.one · 4 pts · 2y

Yuki locked up in sector 3 and went down a escape road

SlicingBot@lemmy.ml · 2 pts · 2y

It sucks, I really wanted a good weekend for Yuki with all of the Uncertainty at AlphaTauri.

espentan@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 2y

This is going to be an exciting, and somewhat unpredictable, qualifying, I think.

SlicingBot@lemmy.ml · 1 pts · 2y (2 replies)

How are they going to handle the impeding issue? I'm trying to imagine how they pick who gets penalized and I can't.

wes@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 2y

Most likely VER will get a 3 place penalty for his pitlane impeding.

Edit: and maybe another 3 places for impeding Tsunoda

argo_yamato@lemm.ee · 3 pts · 2y

If I had to guess it will probably be handled inconsistency. Just glad that isn't my job because there might not be a right decision.

TastyWheat@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 2y

Ah yes, 12 time drivers champion Adrian Newey

Microw@lemm.ee · 1 pts · 2y (1 reply)

Max more annoyed about his lap than that someone had a dangerous crash

(He probably didnt know how heavy it was)

wes@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 2y

To be fair he was complaining before the red flag came.

WatTyler@lemmy.sdf.org · 1 pts · 2y (2 replies)

What happened to Yuki?

Sentau@lemmy.one · 5 pts · 2y

Lock up sector 3. Lap up till that point was great

Microw@lemm.ee · 3 pts · 2y

Someone said that he locked up in the last sector and went down the escape road

PinkOwls@feddit.de · 1 pts · 2y (2 replies)

Are they using ChatGPT for directing the cameras? The camera cuts are making me crazy

BaskinRobbins@sh.itjust.works · 4 pts · 2y (1 reply)

I think that's partially the tracks fault, having lots of corners and the high walls

PinkOwls@feddit.de · 5 pts · 2y

I don't think that was it. The camera direction seems to have magically gotten better after I complained.

TastyWheat@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 2y (1 reply)

Oscar would be pissed. He had a chance to make it into Q2 before Stroll went and crashed his dad's car.

BaskinRobbins@sh.itjust.works · 2 pts · 2y

Yeah also saved Albon from elimination

tankplanker@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 2y

Was this the first race that the Flexi nose checks are enforced for? I thought there was a moratorium at Monza

hydrashok@sh.itjust.works · 1 pts · 2y

Danica Patrick? Get Will or Lawrence up there!

Looks dry on the f1tv stream.

espentan@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 2y

Hmm? Looks perfectly dry to me, and no rain on the weather forecast, either.

Either way, I think it'll be exciting without rain today, judging from the FP results.

lackthought@lemmy.sdf.org · -5 pts · 2y

what a joke
