It's like running away from Jason or Michael Meyers. It does not matter how fast you and how slow they are, they keep coming. And they will catch up in the end.

And when they catch you, they will bonk you.

Or poke you with a sharp stick

So it's the snail

i_need_your_bones@piefed.social · 7 pts · 6d

The snail was humanity all along

Nature really is pretty cruel. The vast majority of wild animals die by being torn apart and eaten alive.

Thank god for the sweet release of blood pressure loss

After running 5k all I can think of is fuck they did that without even having modern shoes. Like how?

Zagorath@quokk.au · 32 pts · 6d (2 replies)

I think a big part is conditioning. If all the walking & running you've ever done was shoeless, you're just more able to run shoeless than someone who only takes their shoes off inside a modern home.

Big fricken caluses on the bottoms of your feet.

SkunkWorkz@lemmy.world · 9 pts · 6d

They also ran on dirt and not tarmac or pavement.

DonPiano@feddit.org · 11 pts · 6d

It's not so much running as walking is my understanding

Keep in mind, when you’re not running on man made surfaces you’re often going to have a fine time barefoot. Man made (outdoor) surfaces are hard and not really great for bare feet.

Just gotta watch out for the not so great surfaces.

Ever stand on a thorn, stone, pointy stick?

ignotum@lemmy.world · 8 pts · 5d

Don't badmouth pointy stick, pointy stick kills beasts, pointy stick puts food on the table, pointy stick good

Speiser0@feddit.org · 1 pts · 6d

5k what? 5 k sausages?

AlfalFaFail@lemmy.ml · 9 pts · 6d

Also, these fuckers.

Homotherium hunted large game through persistent hunting and not ambush like other big cats. They hunted in packs and were able to hunt across large distance using their keen day time eye sight.

And here I get winded going up a flight of stairs...

Photonic@lemmy.world · 15 pts · 6d

Don’t worry, a dear trying to run up a flight of stairs would stumble, fall and break all of its legs

i asusme pronghorn antelope, which is not an antelope, almost no predator in America can chase it down, since those predators are long extinct since the last ice age.
