This further highlights just how spineless Sheeran himself is. He already has the cash to retire into a lavish lifestyle, and the exposure to rake in more if he wants to. Losing the tour would not mean nearly as much to him financially or socially. Heck, if he really wanted to he could probably strong-arm the venues to host him (I do believe it was a bit of a bluff from Kraft's side). This band had none of those and yet decided to do the right thing at the expense of so much money and possibilities. Kudos to them.
AFAIK it was only NFL stadiums that threatened to cancel. So move to NBA arenas, soccer stadiums, baseball stadiums, hockey arenas, any number of other venues. Workers get paid, supporting acts get paid, Ed even gets paid, everyone wins.
That's basically impossible. He's doing football stadiums because they're the only venues in the US that can hold the 70,000+ attendees he gets per show.
The tickets are sold specifically for the venue, so they'd have to either refund everyone and have them repurchase tickets or try to assign seats based on the old venue and refund whoever didn't fit.
Then there's scheduling and logistics. The show in question is next week. There's absolutely no chance they could just call up another stadium and book it. Venues book acts like a year in advance.
I'm just discussing his claim of the workers getting paid, not attendance. If he plays a smaller venue, the workers still get paid.
Sure next week would be to soon, take a month+ to figure out lagistics and continue the tour after that. Would it be really hard to figure out, yeah. Is there a perfect solution, definitely not. Is it possible, of course it is.
I wouldn't call him a shithead. He's just a spineless rich liberal who will speak about "workers" and "dialogue" and "peace" but actually does whatever makes him the most money in the moment, all else be damned. Contradictions of liberalism personified.
According to Google trends this event has increased interest in them by 5000%, so apparently refusing to support a genocide is worth significantly more than playing for Ed Sheeran is.

Isn't it bullshit that because he is a billionaire and owns a stadium and a football team, he has the ability to end somebody else's free speech?
It's not like there was a mass number of people protesting the tour because of what Macklemore said. It was a handful of rich assholes that get to dictate what gets said to the audience.
And sports teams shouldn't have owners either. They should be nonprofits. Wouldn't even stop them from paying the players large sums of money, nonprofits are still allowed to earn money, it's just not meant to be paid out as dividends to the people running them, it's meant to be used to continue whatever activity the nonprofit is for.
Like colleges. Some states the college football coach is the highest paid employee by miles. And you can't really argue with that because of how much they bring in to the school.

Honestly mad respect for giving up this kind of exposure for doing the right thing.

Sheeran also cited wanting the workers on his tour to get paid - but he's rich as fuck and could just pay them to not work. Shithead.

And with thousands of tickets unsold, there is some dead space in those existing venues anyway. At least, according to the rolling stone article.

Absolutely, I don't feel like he tried at all. Just rolled over for the billionaires.

Yep.
I have never heard of them before today.
However, I now know who they are and what they stand for so I'm very interested in hearing their music.
So, in a way, this "ED Sheeran supports a genocide and Zionist billionaire by not supporting fellow artists" debacle has given them more exposure.
