I go for the classic... fake boyfriend. We are in a very serious committed relationship

I wish that worked for me. Even when I've been in a relationship dudes just took it as a challenge.

The ol' crazy eyes and hyperfixation on the flesh eating disease usually gets them to leave.

I hate giving advice on this because you shouldn't have to do any of it, but that's the world we live in 🤷‍♀️

My answer depends on the source.

  • strangers at work (customers): fake wedding ring, like a plain band. This depends on your age (less believable for teens) and if your job allows jewelry.
  • strangers in public: fake wedding ring, headphones (sometimes I'd have the sound off if I was concerned for my safety but it's a good "don't talk to me" sign). Acting annoyed if they try and talk to you anyways. Saying things like, "Sorry, I'd rather be left alone thanks." Or something like that. Physically moving if they say shit like, "you don't want to chat?" Etc.
  • coworkers: avoid chatting 1-on-1 unless about work, ask coworkers for advice if you feel you can trust them. They might be able to give a little bit of a hint to the guy.

I always went to bars/clubs in big groups and never while single and looking to meet people so no real advice there except I didn't make eye contact with folks or give anything more than very brief answers if someone talked to me, and immediately walked away after answering.

I think the biggest hurdle is getting over hurting feelings. You didn't invite the person to give you attention, they choose to do it and expect a positive reception, based on what??? It's not an act of care or a sign of how much they like you if they are persistent, it's disrespectful.

Good luck!

Awkwardly. I’m not particularly conventionally attractive so I don’t get that many men hitting on me, but it still happens a few times a year and I am SO. BAD. at dealing with it because I never really learned to.

My wife usually protects both of us from it, but I recently found myself agreeeing to maybe going for a hike in a forest preserve that like no one ever goes to with some random dude? So fucking sketchy, and I’m gay and married… thankfully I did get out of that.

I’m sorry, but I had to laugh at this a little bit because it sounds like me. My sister likes to say that I could get tricked into joining a cult, not because I believed them, but because I was there already and too awkward to leave once I noticed what was going on. She’s definitely not right, but she’s also not tooooooooo far off.

I’m a relatively new teacher and I’m just developing my “teacher persona,” but it’s very effective at removing me as an option from most people’s consideration and at shaming people who are behaving poorly.

I was a waitress for several years and though my server persona is not as open/kind as the teacher one, the teacher one is a thousand times more effective. I think it’s because it makes people actually feel a little bit like they’re a student again, but I don’t know how that actually works- I will straight up scold people if they deserve it (I’m turning into the old German I always wanted to be), but it’s normally just a vibe.

That said, I accepted an invitation for coffee last week, then the pin dropped and before I could stop myself, I said out loud “wait, like romantically?” and watched his soul exit his body and only then held up my hand with the wedding ring on it. It was indelicate, and I did not want him to feel bad (he was very polite about it and he’s been a regular I like at my bakery for years- I still like him, I just don’t want to go on a coffee date with anyone), but goddamn was it effective.

Looking like a homunculus and a gremlin had a crossbreed (fashion wise)

I personally enjoyed videos from a creator called Caffeinated Kitty. She's all about (safely) being aggressive and creepy towards men who won't take a no.

Organ harvesting is one she uses a lot. Like dude won't take no for an answer and she puts on an insane grin and asks him when and where and what his blood type is. O negative!? Yes those kidneys will fetch a great price! And you have no life preservation skills? Maybe you can live without the spleen too.

Main thing is I avoid them as much as possible. I avoid shopping on Sundays because the creepiest creepers are out on that day. I stick to early morning weekdays for my errands, and do as much as possible online. At work, I schedule around them. I don’t engage in a lot of “femininity” such as makeup or shaving or trying to look cute anymore should I need to break my rules and go out. I sometimes need to interact with males online so I don’t turn on my mic when I’m playing games and just type. I’m not saying these are great things to do but I enjoy a peaceful existence.

Well, this is the only thing I like about not passing lol.

Depends.

Those who can catch a clue will notice the wedding ring and leave.

Those who don’t listen to no will discover the joys of being electrocuted by 50,000 volts of electricity via my tazer.

Those who pursue after that point will generally find themselves stopped by a 12 gauge shotgun shell through their face.

Lately it’s a whole bunch of don’t make eye contact.
