Land laws are a mess, i looked at dozens of homes, 1/2 had illegal structures, some had no legal access to the property, three had pipes laid across the block to tiny dams of a few rocks in the creek from where they took water illegally... winging it is the national past time. For decades rubbish collections was, dig a hole and bury your shit, so lots of surprises when you dig to plant fruit trees and such.

On a personal note, i own a house on the edge of a small rural. village on 2 hectares, neighbour's agist their cattle on my block and I get as much free beef as I want and $500 a year for that, my gf works part time 4 months a year, grows lots of her own fruit and veg , is a chef who cooks superb meals for us and we have a solar array and an ecar. We're 4 years in. Far North Qld (born there and left because too hot and humid), Northern NSW (left because of mega fires and heat) , Gold Coast (sea level rise disaster waiting to happen but a great spot between the ocean and the rainforest and we lived there car free), now Tassie

How is tassymania?
I'm in west aus. I spent a few weeks in tassy. The landscape is magnificent. I saw a platypus in the wild which I felt was an achievement.
I think it has its own political vibe that I don't much understanding of. Lambie is super popular and not necessarily left nor right.
I guess Tasmanians face a different set of problems.
