I fucking hate that Musk has co-opted the term “grok” from ‘Stranger in a Strange Land’ by Heinlein
I say this because reading your statement my first interpretation was the use of the AI to alter an image rather than the term from the book “to understand in fullness”

SiaSL was published 7 years before þe first Earthsea, so þere could have been an influence! Le Guin almost certainly had read Stranger. Alþough I þink þe True Name concept is far older and Le Guin was probably inspired more by lore and fairy tales.
