I didn't sleep last night but it wasn't my choice. I just didn't get tired until about a half hour before I had to be up. Needless to say, today fucking sucked.

Yeah, all-nighters are easy. It's more the ~24 hrs+ cliff that comes out of nowhere that's rough. Then there's the battle to power on for another 14-15 hrs through the waves of highs and lows, because I'd rather that than sleep during the day and blow up the sleeping pattern.

Pulling all-nighters for gaming shows very little experience with pulling all-nighters.

garbagebagel@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 8h

Yeah I was gonna say, I do all nighters all the time, just not the fun ones anymore.

Haven't done an all-nighter since college, but a Factorio binge is just about the only thing that can keep me up past 2am.

baldingpudenda@lemmy.world · 12 pts · 12h (2 replies)

Its not even a binge for me. Its: oh one hr before bed? Let me just fix this real quick. 3am: fuck.

yasss, I'll just add a few signals to upgrade the iron-ore rail network for longer trains. Maybe I should just upgrade all stations... it won't take much longer... do I hear birds?

baldingpudenda@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 10h

Im glad im not the only one that trains cause a cascading effect on.

I struggle to pull an all-dayer

Tahl_eN@lemmy.world · 8 pts · 9h

In my 40s - "That's my secret, I'm always tired"

FUCKING_CUNO@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 7 pts · 14h

Not quite an all nighter, but three hours sleep last night.

WHY DO I ALWAYS START NEW GAMES SO LATE!?

Demdaru@lemmy.world · 6 pts · 7h

My problem is opposite. I am trying my best not to pull all-nighter every night xD

Tho I get my energy boost around 7 pm so yeah.

tacosanonymous@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 5 pts · 12h

I only did those when I was excited for a new game. I’ve become a very patient gamer.

Ninja876@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 13h

I'm 50+ I can make it to maybe 18 hours and then I sleep for 2 days...

lichtmetzger@discuss.tchncs.de · 3 pts · 7h (3 replies)

The four-day work week helps a lot, I can still do it and I'm 37.

Schmuppes@lemmy.today · 2 pts · 1h (2 replies)

Damn boi, leave some quality of life for the rest of us!

chunes@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 1h (1 reply)

Most of the time when someone brags about 4-day weeks they still work 40+ hours and I don't envy them much

lichtmetzger@discuss.tchncs.de · 2 pts · 1h

That's true, I only work 32 hours though. And it's not bragging, I've had burnout before and can't work more than that for long periods of time, my body cannot handle it anymore.

DerEnder@lemmus.org · 1 pts · 4h

I'm glad if I make it to 3AM... and that is when I had my nap around noon.

Zizzy@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 1 pts · 1h

ive always been eepy. I mean, naturally i will tend to being up at night, but being a marathon type of gamer is not in my blood

NABDad@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 3h (1 reply)

I was pulling all-nighters well into my 40's, but I had insomnia. It wasn't something I wanted to do. However, I did take advantage of it for work.

I found the solution to my insomnia and never looked back. Now I fall asleep almost like a normal person.

NerdInSuspenders@leminal.space · 3 pts · 1h

What was the solution??

foggy@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 10h

I ain't tired; my eyes start to get blurry unless I have drops.

starchylemming@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 4h

I wish all nighters were still an option My body is ready, i want it. But it's not the responsible thing to do. Gotta function properly the next day

Being an adult sucks, they warned us about it

TigerAce@lemmy.dbzer0.com · -1 pts · 7h

Just pop some dexamphetamines, problem solved.
