Thanks for explaining, it doesn't sound like too much faff. My regular workflow is maybe a few minutes quicker, but I don't get as many adjustment points.

Also my shots don't look as pretty, nicely done

That shot looks great!

I just have experience with semi-automatic, but levers look like they could be fun.

How long does it take once you walk in the kitchen to finishing the shot? Have you tried any other espresso machines or levers to compare?

Low key/low-key/lowkey, has been used well before gen z in the same way. It's definitely gotten more popular though

On my regular rotation, I'm brewing with the Clever dripper, a Viet phin, and a thrifted Gaggia Pure. I tend to grab the medium roast Mayorga beans from Costco, but have to refill my supply from local roosters.

If you try the phin, I suggest to cut a basket filter in 1/4s and use one at the bottom. I enjoy a full strength brew, but if you're not mixing with condensed milk, I need to tone it down a bit.

If anyone has any robusta or robusta bean blends to recommend, I would love to hear it

It is very easy, as long as you use a drill for the last disassembly step. There are many videos on how to do it.

Even if you don't drink espresso, the burr upgrade significantly reduces the grind time while giving great results for pour over, imo.

There are some inexpensive bellows on Aliexpress for the encore as well, def worth the $6-8

It seems like it'll give you what you want at an ok price. I wouldn't pay $150 new but$100 seems reasonable. You're rolling the dice on longevity and repairability though, maybe check if there are options to do that.

I had an Baratza encore that I had for a year and then upgraded the burrs. Then I wanted a second grinder for pour over and got a used encore for $45, but needed to replace a $5 part. I know that either can be easily and cheaply repaired.

You could do better but you could do worse. If you get it, do you mind sharing your thoughts on it?
