60km round trip thrice a week. All nice and flat until i have to climb up the castle hill in Heidelberg at the end (switched to an E-Bike because of that)...
The total time for me to get to work with the bike vs taking transit is also slightly higher, but I do make it up in the fact that I get great exercise, and save a little bit on the cost of transit. Plus, listening to podcasts on the bike is a perfect combination for me.
I'm mostly work from home, but when I need to go to the office it's about 10 miles each way. Takes me 40-45 minutes.
Now that school has let out for the summer, I'll have a couple of weeks where I need to take my kids to their various day camps. Looks like that will be about the same total mileage, except on my cargo bike.
When I was young, we rode bicycles everywhere. Then in my 20s, I was spending hours in a car everyday in commute. I missed riding places like in my youth.
Mine is only about 6 miles each way, and I only make it twice a month, 3x tops (still mostly remote). But my exercise commute takes me 10-35 miles at least once a week!
I ride a little under 20km each way, takes just over an hour, and that is about the same as transit, but transit only has very limited times it runs. I only do the whole thing one way a couple times a week and I'll multimodal the other way. Usually its a mix both ways. (Edit: converted to metric)
I have about 14 km which takes me 50mins. Im commuting from one side of the city to another, so waiting at lights takes up a huge amount of time. The first 6 km only take 15 min because of no lights and a "bicycle street".

About 5km one-way. Perfect length for all-year commuting and light exercise.

That's quite a bit! How long does that take you?
flof@feddit.de · 3 pts · 3y
One way about 1h10min - by car it's 45min, so i get 2h20min of exercise by investing 50min of time :-)
Most of the way the motor is off because I'm pedaling at about 29 km/h in the flats.

5 miles round trip, including a stop at the gym. It's amazing and a huge change from my last job which was 25 round trip.

Technically 20km but I take the train for most of that, so it ends up only ~5km.

Around 6 miles that takes 30 minutes one-way. Though usually the unoptimized traffic lights make it take a little longer.

Less than two miles! Maybe 8 minutes if I hit all the lights.

I'm envious of that for sure.

Nice, that's a pretty manageable distance.
As in, to the gym, or something of the sort?
LemmyAtem@beehaw.org · 3 pts · 3y
No I just meant that I bike recreationally 10-35 miles per week. So like I'm commuting just for exercise.
In retrospect it wasn't well thought out.

15 or 20 minutes, it depends how collapsed is the central part of barcelona
it's only 5km from the south of the city to the center

Exactly 9.94km taking me 24 minutes. Faster if I feel like testing my strength against the 123m of uphill.

25 km each way. Takes me 1:15->1:25 depending on the light timing.
