What dog name pairs well with Olive?

Thinking of naming one dog Olive, what might pair well? Looking for Milo and Otis vibes.

Martini

WhatAmLemmy@lemmy.world · 9 pts · 2y (1 reply)

You could call it marty!

roguetrick@kbin.social · 5 pts · 2y

That's just really funny to me to make a diminutive out of a diminutive. Martini already means Marty. Both Martinez and Martin, which they are respectfully diminutives of come from the Latin Martinus for a child dedicated to the god Mars.

Martini.

I was going to say Yiu, as in "Olive you" (I love you), but "you" comes up way to much in regular language, would confuse the poor dog.

pingveno@lemmy.ml · 1 pts · 2y

Perfect! A lot of these work together but only work as a pair. This one stands alone as well.

My wife and I have an Australian shepard named Olive. We've already committed to getting a mini and naming it caper

SomeRandomWords@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 2 pts · 2y

I've got a mini and am looking into getting another mini or a full size. Caper sounds like a fantastic name considering how sneaky my current one is.

You could do Olive and Ollie for that sweet alliteration.

Alternatively, Olive and Chives is pretty good too.

Martini. Marti for short, which has the benefit of being ungendered.

E: I guess more appropriate for this particular episode -- everyone knows that the head is the hammer of the body

Er?

That way you could have Olive & er. And if you get a third one you could call it John.

(Their nicknames could also be "Last", "Week", & "Tonight":-P)
