I'm still a little shook you can't actually get medals anymore. Times are changing.

QuandaleDingle@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 2y (1 reply)

Aww, thanks. :)

LazaroFilm@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 2y

Maybe Lemmy should try some sort of crypto infused medal for posts then shut down the thing after a few mods pulled all their money out of the system.

AVincentInSpace@pawb.social · 1 pts · 2y (1 reply)

every day i become less sure that lemmy isn't just an alternative frontend for reddit

QuandaleDingle@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 2y

Heh, I'm aware I'm not on Reddit, if that's what you're implying. I'm just amazed at how quickly Reddit went downhill. ;)

blackstampede@sh.itjust.works · 51 pts · 2y

I appreciate your vital contribution to this discussion.

Wait, I feel like I missed something important. Hannah Montana Linux?

Edit: It's real. It's really real.

pmk@lemmy.sdf.org · 73 pts · 2y (7 replies)

There's also PonyOS (https://www.ponyos.org/) They wrote their own kernel, so it's not Linux, but it is Unix-like.

Blamemeta@lemm.ee · 38 pts · 2y

I love the reviews.

reev@sh.itjust.works · 33 pts · 2y (1 reply)

Own kernel... That's honestly just impressive.

AVincentInSpace@pawb.social · 1 pts · 2y

If you scroll all the way to the bottom you can see it's a fork of a different from-scratch OS.

PonyOS is based on ToaruOS, which is free software released under the terms of the NCSA/University of Illinois license.

Still impressive though.

Setarkus@toast.ooo · 24 pts · 2y

They missed the opportunity to say "Git reponytory"

Hubi@feddit.de · 12 pts · 2y

I really really hate this

Quills@sh.itjust.works · 7 pts · 2y

Less goo thanks for mentioning the pones lol

But yeah, impressive project there

lugal@lemmy.ml · 14 pts · 2y (3 replies)

Hannah Montana Linux

That's also where I have landed

Moshpirit@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 2y (2 replies)

I use arch btw

lugal@lemmy.ml · 2 pts · 2y (1 reply)

How do you recognize an arch user? They tell you. All the time.

How do you recognize an ubuntu user? They just say "I use linux" without specifying it l.

Btw I use linux

Moshpirit@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 2y

Oh, snap!

ook_the_librarian@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 2y

That's what I got too! Twinsies!

pmarcilus@discuss.tchncs.de · 22 pts · 2y (3 replies)

As a 3-year user of Hannah Montana Linux, I approve this post.

dQw4w9WgXcQ@lemm.ee · 22 pts · 2y (1 reply)

That's impressive. I didn't start using linux until my late 20's

ILikeBoobies@lemmy.ca · 5 pts · 2y

When I was a kid I had Linux on a cd that came in the mail

It was probably my first online purchase

CentreForAnts@aussie.zone · 1 pts · 2y

Isn't it super old. Or have they released an updated version. Or can you simply just update it yourself?

spittingimage@lemmy.world · 21 pts · 2y (14 replies)

Is there a version of this but for real?

BrownianMotion@lemmy.world · 62 pts · 2y (11 replies)

mojo@lemm.ee · 17 pts · 2y (5 replies)

Why would they suggest Kali as a distro lol

BrownianMotion@lemmy.world · 27 pts · 2y (4 replies)

I guess this flowchart selects Kali intelligently!

mojo@lemm.ee · 5 pts · 2y

I don't see hannah montana linux so i dont count this chart

Veneroso@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 2y

All paths lead to Gentoo.

greywolf0x1@lemmy.ml · 2 pts · 2y

Black Arch should replace arch for penetrative testers.

manned_meatball@lemmy.ml · 1 pts · 2y

Replace Manjaro for EndeavourOS and it's a fine chart

darcy@sh.itjust.works · 13 pts · 2y (2 replies)

the "do you fear technology" doesnt make sense. it should be "dont understand technology" or something.

BrownianMotion@lemmy.world · 15 pts · 2y (1 reply)

sheesh, I didn't make the meme. Tell your story walking.

darcy@sh.itjust.works · 6 pts · 2y

ok. just saying

zerotime@feddit.de · 7 pts · 2y

It would be great if there was an icon of a BSD-distribution under the category "Do have a life?" - "No".

pomodoro_longbreak@sh.itjust.works · 4 pts · 2y

Ouch

Hawk@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 8 pts · 2y

Jumuta@sh.itjust.works · 19 pts · 2y

CentreForAnts@aussie.zone · 17 pts · 2y (1 reply)

They say if you install Hannah Montana Linux and Windows 11 as a dual boot. You get the best of both worlds...

phorq@lemmy.ml · 2 pts · 2y

Miley Stewart DOS during the day, Hannah Montana Linux at night.

saltnotsugar@lemm.ee · 14 pts · 2y

Our company has shifted from Redhat to Hanna Montana boxes and it really jazzed our network up.

Norgur@kbin.social · 11 pts · 2y (2 replies)

PipedLinkBot@feddit.rocks · 6 pts · 2y

Here is an alternative Piped link(s):

"Weird distro, still better than Windows"

Piped is a privacy-respecting open-source alternative frontend to YouTube.

I'm open-source; check me out at GitHub.

ODuffer@lemmy.world · 8 pts · 2y

I use Arch btw

Draegur@lemm.ee · 7 pts · 2y (3 replies)

wow you're right, this has completely discouraged me from ever trying linux.

pmk@lemmy.sdf.org · 33 pts · 2y (1 reply)

Me too, I'll stick with good old HannahMontanaBSD.

partial_accumen@lemmy.world · 25 pts · 2y

And within minutes it was forked to:

FreeHannahMontanaBSD and OpenHannahMontanaBSD

Johanno@feddit.de · 2 pts · 2y
