I know this is going to be an unpopular opinion, but I am kinda ok with cm0002 reposting content (at this time). I don't think Lemmy is big enough yet to start throttling ourselves over situations like this - where the content is good, but doesn't receive as many views. While yes, "my karma"; but at the same time, if people aren't cross-posting / reposting, it'll appear like there's even less content and lemmy will seem more dead

Yes - I am also a hypocrite and would hate it if someone reposted my content without crediting me. But in the grand scheme of things, I'd rather Lemmy have more posts and look more alive, than keeping things stale because "XYZ was already posted"

Once Lemmy get big enough that reposts become a problem and are seen multiple times in the same day - then I think we can bring back this level of moderation

I watched the interview and I'll say the same thing again: he's dodging the question because he's not planning on carrying out those orders, but he doesn't want to be fired

By admitting his plan to defy orders, he would be violating one of the central military laws; and will subsequently be fired. At which point, they could replace him with another Admiral willing to carry out those orders

Additionally, it could be considered as a breach of security. A plan to attack Canada would most certainly be a protected document, so mentioning there is a plan could be considered a breach. Again - he would be fired. (PS. All well established militaries have plans in the event of an invasion, regardless of the level of trust. It would be silly not to)

There's a word for this in mandarin - Dao Mei (forgive me if I got the spelling wrong). But from what I've been told, it doesn't quite mean "bad luck" which implies you had no control over it; but it means that bad things are happening to you because you put yourself into that position

For context: the cadet program isn't run by the main forces that see any live combat. Contrarily, it's run by a sub branch of the reserves - the Cadet Instructor Cadre (CIC). CIC members are considered part of the military, but they aren't trained for any form of combat; their focus is an after-school youth program for high schoolers

EDIT: additional note - The Air Cadet program / Royal Canadian Air Cadets is equivalent to the US's Civil Air Patrol

I was on Reddit from 2011 - 2022. I switched over to Lemmy after they implemented the fees and the 3rd party apps had to shut down. Haven't logged into my Reddit account since - their app is shut, their new web page is shit, and now they've shut down old.Reddit - more shit

Chicken vs Egg: did anon discover they had a ghost fetish? Or is he going to develop a Pavlovian response and get horny from ghosts?

I'm not really following the case closely, but what I understand is that it's pretty clear cut that she murdered her children. IIRC, the reason why TikTok white women are on her side is because the doctors "didn't help her" even though they were trying everything. Yet, she still lost it and murdered them. Definitely not an accident either - strangulation with some kind of rope IIRC

Not mine, but memes I'm sharing with the unfortunate that have come to know me and that have the privilege of being put onto my memes mailing list

This is another reason why I'm trying to move away from anything Google. They have a pretty good track record of shutting things down
