Great news that they are still developing it. I started using the md version several months back and I love it. I have noticed however that pages with large numbers of blocks can sometimes suffer from input lack that can get bad. Is the idea of the Db version to fix this kind of performance issue?
I have only very recently set it up and I’m running it with a cloud model (Gemini 3.5 Flash) but I do think its marquee feature (learning skills based on what you ask it to do and then being able to use those in the future) is pretty valuable. I haven’t used OpenClaw but my understanding is it has a massive library of skills (essentially repeatable functions or tasks) while Hermes has a somewhat smaller library of shared skills but crucially you can teach it your own skills by just asking it to do something and giving it notes on how to do it.
Sad but true. Also, this is the first I’m hearing about the Hampton Institute. They sound interesting and their namesake was certainly inspiring. Seems like maybe they are not that active anymore though? I can’t find anything published on their website in the last 9 months or so. Anyone know anything more about them?
This would indeed be amazing for battery life. I noticed the change was indicated only under the original LCD deck BIOS and not the OLED. Is it coming to OLED later? Already implemented on it and I didn’t know it??
Yes I did see that as well. That does seem to be the real Achilles heel here. Will have to try it myself to see how much it exacerbates context size limitations given I would be running it on a single 24 GB VRAM GPU. I wonder if adjusting reasoning effort parameters could make a difference without affecting quality too much?
Was just looking at the benchmarks for it on artificialanalysis.ai and it looks great for the size. Probably best available for general use if you’re looking for something under 40b parameters I’d say. Even more impressive is the agentic capabilities and the fact that it is actually decent in terms of hallucinations (not amazing given it’s a small-medium size model but decent).
Very low fee cross-border (remittance) transfers using stablecoins (cryptoassets that are pegged to a fiat currency like the dollar) allow people to avoid getting ripped off by companies like Western Union.
On crypto platforms like Ethereum that support smart contracts (basically computer programs that run on the blockchain and allow you to automate transfers etc), you can provide liquidity to money markets and asset exchange platforms and earn many times the interest yield (APY) of what you might get at a bank for a similar thing (like 12-60% vs 2-5%). If you’re a real finance nerd you can also access various exotic financial instruments on other platforms that otherwise wouldn’t be available to you unless you were at a huge investment bank or hedge fund and even some that aren’t possible there. These are often called DeFi platforms (Decentralized Finance)
Another huge use of crypto networks are money laundering and scams though so beware. It’s still a largely unregulated black market. Never put more money into a crypto network than you can afford to lose.

A charge cycles vs capacity degradation graph or something similar for lifespan would really round this out and provide a comprehensive picture.
