I'd be very curious to see how orgs like the Taxpayer's Union or Hobson's Pledge fit in. They are campaigning for our political parties but are not those parties, most of their work is not in actual campaigning but in sewing seeds of doubt or pushing certain views among the public.
I guess what the Greens are proposing is a lot better than the current state, especially the standdown between being an MP/minister and being allowed to join a lobby group.
Have you got experience self hosting other things?
I really think that it's good to start with something small and personal (say, a wiki or Jellyfin) where you can build some skills around hosting, reverse proxies, security practices, backups, etc.
Hosting a service as part of a wider interconnected network of sites isn't as difficult as it sounds but there is definitely potential to screw it up beyond repair.
A few phones back I started getting a second hand flagdhip phone every 3-4 years, I think it's well worth the flagship second hand 1 year old model instead of the mid range phones I used to get for the same price.
Plus the last couple have been pixels for GraphineOS, so it's nice to not be directly handingb Google money.

The things that got me to move from Voyager were that when images didn't load first time, there was no way to re-try - Summit has that. And I don't think Voyager handled drafts that well. Summit has drafts but I do wish there was a client that had drafts like Relay did, where if you come back to the same comment/post and hit reply it has your draft from where you left off on that comment/reply.
There's a great book called Invisible Women if you like stats or being angry, but they make the claim that quality years aren't much different for men vs women, women just kinda stay alive longer. I've poorly paraphrased but I hope that kinda made sense.
So recording a conversation on your camera between two other parties still breaks the law in a one party consent state, because no party in the conversation has consented to the conversation being recorded.
I guess not directly relevant, but the point is still there. The article basically came down to the fact that the guy was recording his neighbors' conversations without consent.
If I lived in the US I'd be checking laws before recording audio.
I don't live in the US or the EU and still disable audio in my cameras because of this.
My favourite is when a toaster with the lift function raises to a high point that's lower than the high point on one without the lift.
Or that time I went through every display toaster in the store to get the one that lifted the highest, then when I bought one and took it home the one in the box only lifted to a high point an inch lower than the display model.
The cost of telegrams is probably why acronyms like DTF got so popular.
I don't know that I've ever seen subtitles synced correctly outside of streaming services. You must have a different setup to me.

Yeah it seems this is a bit of common sense. 30 min parks defeats the purpose of a mall.
There's quite a learning curve if you're not familiar with self-hosting. Doing it through a managed service sounds like a good idea.
