Not sure about the history of it, but it's different to every other distro I've used! Admittedly I've not tried loads and I've not been using Linux for that long, but to me it makes far more sense to tell me I don't have permission to use a command/program than to pretend it isn't installed

This is a fairly minor issue since it's quite an easy fix, but it really annoys me that Debian doesn't include the sbin folders in the default user path. Meaning that if you try to run a command that needs sudo, instead of telling you it needs sudo it just says the command doesn't exist

I would love to stop being a climate doomer but everything I've seen suggests that we've already hit most of the tipping points so even if we somehow hit net zero this second runaway climate change is already locked in. And not only are we nowhere near net zero, we're still increasing emissions every year. Even if we completely rebuilt society from the ground up net zero would be a difficult goal, and COVID has proven most people won't even do the bare minimum like wearing a mask to help fix global issues, so forget any chance of making the changes necessary to even make a start on climate change.

If anyone can link to anything to prove me wrong please do. I'm not saying this to shit on the article or be a dick, I genuinely want even a glimmer of hope.

God fucking dammit. I swear if you just wait long enough every youtuber is eventually revealed to be a racist misogynist homophobic transphobic pedo

Ente isn't quite an entire ecosystem but it has Ente photos for photos and earlier this year they released Ente locker for documents. I haven't actually used either of them but they seem to have a pretty good reputation as a company

AI companies will continue to be excluded from the scheme

So if I'm understanding this correctly the companies who actually make the news discoverable and link to the original site will have to pay the news companies? And the companies who plagiarise the content without giving any credit or linking to the original source get away with it?

I'm not usually one to bat for Google or Meta but this seems like the one time they're being called out unfairly

To be fair I've not seen it advertised anywhere and only heard about it because a Youtuber mentioned it was coming out this year in a video a while back and I made a mental note I wanted to watch it. I went to see it the opening weekend without even realising it was the opening weekend! I just saw it listed when looking what was on at the cinema.
