Mahdollisesti. Tai siltä se jo vaikuttaa, ettei uskoa muutokseen ole ellei jotain Elokapinaa laske tähän yhtälöön. Vaihtoehdoiksi jää silloin joko nihilismi taikka hedonismi.
"Bitterin mielestä tupakan suosioon voivat vaikuttaa etenkin nuorten kohdalla esikuvat, mutta myös uutisten mukanansa tuoma näköalattomuus. Silloin tupakan polttaminen voi tuntua pieneltä pahalta.
Bar Loosen ohjelmapäällikkö Tomi ”Hyena” Honkasalo on Bitterin kanssa samoilla linjoilla.
– Jos katsoo ympärilleen, maailmahan tekee kuolemaa tällä hetkellä. Ehkä ihmiset haluaa kuolla ennen maailmaa, Honkasalo toteaa."
Currently I am reading The Monk by Matthew Lewis, which is a gothic horror book. I guess the biggest themes are temptation, love and the concept of sin, but I have read only the first book out of three. Still light on the horror side of things, but all the elements are in their places for plot to start to unravel quite menacingly.
Other book is Mirabilis by Anni Kytömäki. I am struggling through, because it was loaned to my by a friend to discuss about.
I have no hope, that the system will change in time for us or those who come after us; humans and other walks of life. But I still do things and make choices, that mitigate my impact on the planet. Not because I think I can steer us away from this path, but because it is the right thing to do. I am morally obligated to do it even if the result does not change and I take a weak solace in that fact. And of course it always matters whether we hit 3, 4, 5 or 8 degrees above pre-industrial mean to other evolutions of life.
A bit off-topic, but we are getting to the point where we really do not have accurate data to predict the future. 1,5 celcius was a political goal, not a scientific one (climate sensitivity was something closer to a 1,2 degrees) and now we facing a world where we really do not know when we are hitting those sweet feedback loops. Truly, entropy in the system is growing.
Suicide by Émile Durkheim though I have read only the first actual chapter. Other one is Dark Domain by Stefan Grabiński, which I plan to finish today or tomorrow.
Because humans are storytellers, not scientist by nature. Better (and not necessary for plebeians) story, bigger impact. For example religions or money have diminished our freedom-loving characteristics to almost none-existence, but they sure are good concepts to knit us together to form a society.
I dream very often of being someone else. No limits on sex, sexuality or age. Not too long ago I dreamt I was a young, bisexual man with bear-like proportions, though the sexual relations were an afterthought in a highly weird story about survival.
I am a middle aged woman, but shit it felt good in the morning to feel that strong.

This is superb! I, too, love the postapocalyptic sceneries.

Well it does sound intriguing, so maybe I will give it a shot at some point. Thanks for the answer.
I loved House of Leaves, but never read anything else from him. Is Tom's Crossing similar in anyway e.g. atmosphere?
Tattista, että saitte homman hoidettua! Tästä on tullut itsellekin aika mieluisa paikka netin syövereissä.

It definitely has that 90s feel about it. Super cute in a goofy way.

After the game came out, I also read invincible, and solaris as well after watching the movie. Now I have developed a soft spot for soviet era sci fi.
Not quite reading it every year, but every five years or so. It is such a comforting read and one of my favorites as well.
350 cats is a lot of cats, but hey, we all have our thing.

PS2, you never forget your first love.
