The internet has caused a severe amount of overstimulation in most people, and so now things that they used to take enjoyment in mean nothing to them.
A difference in the type of data. A Minecraft world is just a series of coordinates. There's a lot of repeat data. It's very easy to algorithm your way into something much smaller.
Game data is textures, audio files, level maps, etc. Things that are not repeating data that can be easily condensed.
It's the alternator that handles running load, not your battery, and the difference is negligible. The alternator is not like a battery where it can super accurately adapt its load. Most alternators are just on or off. Some of them have a couple states that they can clutch through, but even then, you're not making a huge difference on the strain of the electrical system.
Without a sharp cutoff, it's not the intensity only that's the problem. The color temperature also makes a very big difference. Bright white or blue light is much more damaging to people's nighttime vision. So even if it's a lower intensity, it's still causing more harm. If it's not properly aimed and cut off from being right in their face.
As far as I'm concerned, LEDs should be illegal. Except for specifically in projector housings with projection lenses that have been properly aimed. Those are the lenses and housings that give your light a razor-sharp cutoff point, and when aimed properly, it means that you will not blind people.
I did this for my car. I live very rural. There's no such thing as city light pollution, much less streetlights. So when it's dark, it's dark dark. And there are deer, elk, and all other manner of animal based hazards. I went through the trouble of making sure to aim my lights in such a way that on the standard lights my cutoff is just below the side mirrors and rear window lines of the average family sedan, not an SUV or anything like that.
When I turn on my high beams they are oh hey look it's high noon in front of me for like a mile. But the standard lights were specifically configured to not do that. Unlike all the other people in my area that simply put massively bright LEDs in their completely normal light housings that do not have the ability to make a sharp cut-off so all they do is blind literally everyone like assholes regardless of high beams.
Freeze drying doesn't tend to work all that great on fats which whole milk has a lot of. Not tonsay it can't be done but its generally more effort than its worth for the result
Wish i could rely on alternatives like OSM. But every time i try its horrendously bad. Search is near useless. Dont have an exact address? That sucks you won't find anything. Directions are basic, roads that no longer exist are used, and ofc it can't take current traffic into account.
This is all in Seattle, WA so it's not lile its a density problem. I have learning disabilities that specifically make navigation in unfamiliar areas nearly impossible for me. I need my GPS to be reliable, while Google does occasionally do something stupid OSM does it every single time i open the app.
Which is a shame because its way nicer looking and uses less memory/cpu then google maps, stays snappy and has some cool extra features. But i need to be able to search abstract concepts like grocery, restaurant, ramen, hardware store and have it actually find locations. Hell even if i search a specific name like Safeway it usually cant find it. Needing an exact address only makes a map worthless.

I mean even as it improves I'll be against it for the same reason I'm against higher level languages. It creates so-called developers that have no idea what they are doing no idea how the code works and no idea what the actual mechanisms behind it are. We've done that with web developers treating them like they are actual developers when they have no idea what's going on and it has led to a situation where just a simple goddamn weather widget needs more than one gigabyte of ram to function. Where as an actual genuine developer that truly understood code could make the exact same thing and use less than 25 MB AI assisted coding is only going to continue to exacerbate this issue with developer knowledge the exact same way upscaling in video games as exacerbated the problem with developers that don't know how to optimize their game. We are already seeing games coming out that are dramatically worse at optimization and they just expect you to use upscaling as a Band-Aid to fix it and make it vaguely playable
What you have described is not coding. You did not create an application, you had it manage a media server. That's systems administration and yes llms are generally pretty decent at that because the documentation is what they were trained on and it's all very straightforward if this then that type things.
When we say AI coding we mean actually creating an application from scratch. It's a very abstract concept with a crap ton of rules and llms are still very bad at it
The only way to use it for code is to spend exponentially more time than it would have taken you to just write the code. You basically have to just take the results and bounce them back and forth between different models and be like correct this code back and forth in an endless loop of different models until it finally gets something that's actually pretty good.
But the amount of time you spend doing that and getting it to actually put out something useful you could have just done it yourself and then went and played some games with the extra time
Honestly the biggest problem is how much people are overthinking trying to make a Linux OS for a phone. Starting from zero and making a mess instead of just forking asop and redoing the UI/storage framework. We don't necessarily need something made from scratch just something that's actually open and in our control
Those exact type of issues have existed in the past it's why the FBI uses ad blocking and recommends that it's used for security. There have been several browser vulnerabilities over the years that required absolutely no interaction from the user whatsoever it simply had to load the data.
The whole reason that manifest V3 was such a big deal for unlock origin is that it prevents it from intercepting and stopping the initial connection to The domain in the first place it can only remove it after it's been received and even that was limited. On Firefox everything is still normal it's able to completely stop the browser from ever reaching out in the first place
Really? If anything I have the opposite problem all the normal people I'm aware of probably don't even need steam just the web browser and plasma. Pretty much everything is in the web browser these days I mean they might want the dedicated discord client but that's ultimately just a web browser in a box and will also work perfectly no AUR required

I'm very tired of the rhetoric that Arch is only meant for tinkerers. If all you do is have plasma steam and a web browser it's no more or less likely to break than any other distro. You could go your entire life without ever looking at the terminal.
And while yes this malware is a problem it is specifically in the aur, the arch user repository an unofficial repository not officially supported, just don't use it. Unless you need a weird piece of software generally related to some type of specific hobby you're unlikely to ever even want to look at it anyway.
I don't even keep an eye on the docs and I think the only issue I've had in the last 10 years was that stupid grub bug they refused to call a bug. Was an easy enough fix, chroot, installed systemdboot, never thought about it again. Ended up being kind of nice systemdboot is waaaaaaaaay less complicated.
Other than that I've literally never had an issue from an update. But I also don't do much. Use plasma, play games on steam, Rarely use AUR, and update like idk once a week or so.
