I went to school with this clown. He was always a peice of shit troublemaker that couldn't pass a single class if his life depended on it. He tried to fight teachers. Not surprised at all this is how he ended up.

"it's just sounds"

So, straying from the conversation about AI music being good or whatever. This is the part of AI music that perplexes me the most. So like... Audio is a wave. You can take a sine wave, and a square wave and layer them on top and you get a sine wave with some square edges because it's both sounds. Different frequencies for different pitches, all of that.

When AI makes music, is it just drawing that wave? If so, that's fucking crazy. Like I could understand if it used some ingested music theory to write chords and a melody, then turn them into MIDI, then run those through a synth plugin. But AI doesn't have a synth plugn. It just knows what a synth plugin sounds like through analasys of sound waves, right? Like AI can't "hear" music. It doesn't know what a cello sounds like. It just knows what the sample point values of a waveform of a cello sounds like. But then if you tell the AI to add an instrument. Let's say an electric guitar. It knows how to re-draw that wave to actually make that sound. To add reverb? To add compression? Then more instruments?

If that's how it actually works, that blows my god damned mind. No human could ever write a song by drawing a line on paper and scanning it in. I suppose they could, but it would be some avant garde experimental thing, not something that sounds like actual instruments. Like I don't think a human could ever figure out how to draw the sound of fingers sliding down the frets of an acoustic guitar between the actually strumming of a guitar.

It's fucking bonkers.

Building it into the monitor wouldn't even be hard. Especially if it's a lightning bolt connection, which can also act as a USB connection. So it coult filch a network connection, run ads overlayed on the monitor. Monitor is touchscreen and you have to physically press the tiny "dismiss" button next to the huge "install" button. Mistakenly pressing install sends a keyboard command to the PC that opens a terminal and runs a winget install command.

The fact that I could think of this means that it's probably already in the works.

It would be awesome if a website cropped up like "ifixit" but was "ibreakit" or something. And it had instructions to surgically physically disable stuff like this on all sorts of models. Like "make a marker on a dremel bit that is 1/2 an inch deep, measure 3 inches from this corner and 4 inches from that corner, make a dot. Drill your dremel into that dot to the 1/2inch marker on your dremel bit to break the traces to the wifi antenna"

Or something like that. It would clearly have to have very bright "if you break your shit we are not responsible" warnings.

It's even less interesting when all of the content is just reposts made by bots and all of the comments are made by bots. All of the original content has already been copied.

It was a bummer to watch it it all happen over time. I remember using reddit in like 2010 and it was great. It stayed great until maybe 2015. Then it slowly started to become too popular. It started to get targeted with fake viral ad campaigns. Those worked, and then from there it was fast downhill.

Oh well... I remember when AOL was cool too. So I guess that's just she way she goes.

Yeah, set dressers to a hell of a job. Not just a sound stage but the entire house was dressed to be Christmas colors. Everything is red, green, and gold. Because it's a Christmas movie. I doubt the house actually looked like this.

I don't think a high wattage battery is something that could keep you warm. I was talking more like creature comforts. Not something you would want on-the-go because of the weight, but if you were hunkered down you might at least have lights or some amount of entertainment. Shit, it could even power a tablet, router, and NAS, and give you something to watch in dark times. That's a good thing to have on solar power if you are staying put.

Juggalos are pretty out there. Huffing nitrous, and drinking shitty beer and root beer? And they are super proud of it. I'm pretty sure there's meth involved. I don't think they do much harm to anybody but themselves, and maybe anybody they influence into becoming a juggalo. But man, what a weird group of people.

My daughter went through the "why" phase for a while when she was 3. I do my best to answer them because it's a fun game. She's trying to learn, and I'm here to teach her. At one point we got to the topic of our dog and she was like "Why is he a dog"

That one stumped me for a while before I hit her with "because his parents are dogs". And then she went right for the "who are his parents" and that spun off into questions about dog breeding and how they used to all be wild wolves... It's fun.

Dogs are the best. Who fucking knows what they are thinking. A friend of mine has a dog who isn't really food driven, but do you know what he fucking loves? Raw baby spinach leaves. Ohhh boy, if you open a bag of spinach in front of that dog, you best be giving some to him. Funny little creatures they are. All of them with their own quirks. But all of them the best.

And God forbid I gently blow on my dogs face. This is akin to waterboarding for him. But he will happily stick his head out of a car window at full speed.

I don't always understand why dogs are the way they are, but I sure am happy that they are.

This one is always hilarious. Like James Bond will be out on some mission for several days and I'll be like "damn, I wonder where he took a shit"

I feel like this is something left out of pretty much every survival video game. You have to figure out how to get food and water etc, but you never have to dig a hole to shit in. It is part of being alive.
