one of the leaked "test" features that everyone hated was the facial recognition...and i get it. lot's of opertunity for abuse. Shame though as that would be SO usfull to those with prosopagnosia or people like me who have an inability to remember names. It has hurt me profesionaly throughout my life. having the name and a few relivent facts about people pop up would just put me on the same playing field with those who can remember.

I don't know about you guys, but the teeth an my zipper are lined up ahaid of time and "traveling" the same speed. I would be fine with zipper merge if that where the case, but every time i am in the open lane and the other one closes there are 10 jerks who sped to the end and now feel i should have to come to a full stop and let all 10 get in front. Also, my zipper gets joined at the botom and the "merge" point travels back up the the path. we are all going to sqeeze into one lane anyway. Don't care where it happens as long as everyone maintains speed. If you expect me to stop my lane so 10 can come from yours we have a problem.

perhaps, but as a scuba instructor, I am tired of people saying the underwater sign language for "OK" means white power. Context matters. There still should be some effort to understand the intent of the sender, and not just assume the preconceptions of the receiver are the intent. Somone deciding a word or symbol I have been using for my lifetime suddenly means something else does not change my intent. When a Hindu puts a swastika on their house it clearly does not mean the same thing as when a Nazi does. When a spanish art teacher refers to black paint...etc, etc.. In cases like this, I think we have enough context that the font and details of the symbol are irrelevant. It is clear what his intent is. If the guy did not share those beliefs, given what he does for a living, I would think he would be more careful about using anything that could be mistaken for Nazi symbology.

Verizon...manually go in every month to OK the funds come straight from checking. Been using the same account for over 20 years and it is SAVED on the Verizon site.. Have plenty of money in the account, then one month it gets rejected for "account not found". Bank says they never even tried and i hit re-submit and it goes through no problem. Clearly a problem with Verizon's payment processing right? But they charge me a $30 "returned" fee and when I reach out to them they wont budge on it.

Despite the upvotes and the BS second sentence I am going to agree with "It’s supposed to be a low earning job for kids." Just like caddy at a golf course, and many others. The fact that our society is so broken people are forced to take these jobs and try to make a living underlines hundreds of other problems. I would rather see us fix all the others issues limiting the number of living wage jobs than worry about the pay of one sector. If that happened the fast food jobs would either be filled by "kids" or have to up wages to get any employees solving the fast food pay issue as well. just like @meco03211@lemmy.world says below things like "EMTs only get $15/hr" being fixed along with unemployment rates would go a long way.

I always viewed the difference as intent and not mutually exclusive. reason explains your thought process, actions, and events. Excuse are reasons presented in a manor meant to shift responsibility.

As a person who has unfortunately been forced to use a firearm to defend the life of myself and my family during a break in where the guy had handcuffs etc, I read this as you telling me we should just be dead. if "you’re rich enough to have your own security service " you don't need a weapon at all. The rest of us unfortunately may have to defend ourselves. I am aware this is only an anecdotal argument not a statistical one, but as the guy who did not have to watch unspeakable things happen to his family, I'm OK with that.

"America's bluest non voters" and "tweet Donald trump is.....". Looks like they are only paying if you agree with their politics. That is buying votes. Offering it to all non voters is one thing but the other requirements make it shady. Just as bad as Elon Musk "sign a petition". neither should be permitted.

never said i was upset about "Egwene and Nynaeve". Not sure where you got that. I just remember the one power being more common in the village because "the blood of Manetheren flows strong Emond's Field" and everyone commenting how Rand looked so different from the locals. They also commented that those in watch hill mixed with outsiders but Tam was strange because he married someone from off. Rand remarks that Mistress Grimwell (Else Grimwell's mother) has yellow hair, a hair color he had never seen before in his life. Rand sees Thom he notices that he has blue eyes and Rand remembers a time he fought Ewal Coplin because he made fun of Rand's grey eyes (so we can infer from that this eye color stands out there and Rand suffered at least one episode of bullying). I think everyone should have been dark skinned, or at least all similar. Its the variaty i did not like.

so my sisters Mazda MX-30 has more HP than my uncles Peterbilt 389? cool, I'll use it to haul my horse trailer. define "more powerful". Makes the point but XKCD usually does better.

no doubt. major pet peeve of mine, people enter a building (IE store) and just STOP blocking the entrance. I get you need to get you bearings but step out of the wat to do it!
