The full name of the Nazi Party was Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei (German for ‘National Socialist German Workers’ Party’).
I know what "Nazi" means dude. There are a zillion things to criticise about these people; rest assured when they put nazi shit on things, it's more obvious. Criticize and obsess over the right shit. That's the whole point
What’s the difference between a nazi sign and a sign that is homage to Nazis?
According to you, one of them is okay, but not the other one?
One is that the sign itself actually resembles a nazi sign, and not other objects, and the other is something that is designed to emulate the ideas of nazi signs, without resembling them.
Both are bad. I don't feel I have to actually point that out, but here I am. My goal with the comment here is to make you guys perceive reality and not jump at everything you see.
I mean, it's still at least some trumpy ass shit if not full nazi, but did you expect ICE to be Obama stans just because he deported more people than any other president in history (so far)?

These dudes get boners hurting brown-skinned people in front of their families, they want to look frightening. It's more than likely some slogan, like NEVER SURRENDER, with a lightning bolt because yeah, he saw it on some Nazi gear and thought it looked tough AF. Oooh, he didn't flatten the tops and bottoms!! Like he's effing Michaelangelo or something. Like these dudes are going to draw anything OTHER than lightning bolts, lol.
These thugs don't even have any reason to hide their convictions anymore at this point...
The US is in dire need of denazification and it should begin with ICE and it's fascist employees. Prosecute the fuck out of this administration, it's henchmen and the billionaires that endorsed it.

I want to note that this is exactly what that actual Nazis did when they stole symbolisms from various cultures including the rune ᛋ and of course the swastica. Both of which represent the sun.
Related from my own defunct blog: Skulls in military symbolism are actually not particularly odd, as indicators of toughness and ferocity (and in Navy a nod to the Jolly Roger, which was partly an identifier of the pirate vessel, but also a call to surrender with the promise of quarter...)
Discussing the M&W Are We The Baddies skit and the preponderance of skulls in Waffen SS kitch.
The swastika is one of the oldest, they have ones etched in stone in bulgaria from like 40k years back or something I forget, maybe it was 10k. Also later ones in india and elsewhere.
Why is camo worn in cities in general or why ICE is wearing camo?
Cities aren’t big splotches of gray. Wearing camouflage still provides some benefit when within cities. Also, uniforms are no longer just the pattern, these uniforms would also reduce IR signatures to not be seen as easily by nighht vision equipment.
Why ICE is wearing it? Surplus. The uniforms are easy to get and identify them as some form of federal agent. The alternative is a batch of one colour uniforms which would cost a lot or go plainclothes which I consider to be worse.
Nah they didn't outgrow gaming, they just got tired of being torched by 8 year olds on chat, or picking a genre that was not online gaming. Those 8 year olds should go into comedy, provided they remember to punch up.
Trying to find specific context on this guy, here's what I got so far: The picture was taken 14. October 2025 "around 11 a.m." in Chicago, "near 105th Street and Avenue N in the East Side neighborhood". The rest of the uniform indicates he's a member of a Special Response Team, whatever that is.
You're getting the German a bit wrong here though.
It is "Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei"; it's the adjective here, as in "national socialist German workers party". "Nationalsozialismus" is the noun, meaning "national socialism"
But, yes, that's what those two letters plausibly refer to in this context and with this font and symbolism involved.
ICE are all the raging assholes that constantly demanded violent responses to everything a minority or liberal did, or suggested nuking every foreign country for whatever perceived infraction, while safely behind a screen and keyboard. They refused to sign up for the military that would impose rules, expectations, and restrictions on them. Also, people shoot back at you if you get deployed. Can’t have that. Too scary. So they join ICE and get to beat up on those foreign people and piss off the libs while under State Protection, nobody gets to shoot back. They’re protected from consequences. Cowards and bullies.
I spent too much time looking for what this patch might be and didn't find anything. The only patch I found with an NS on it was for Nova Scotia, which I have a feeling isn't what this is.
With that said though, it's hard to say what this is. The lightning bolt isn't the same shape as the SS, but it is the same shape as a lot of military groups use. Who knows though. It could be a Nazi thing. They did use similar lightning bolts too I believe, just the SS one is quite different. It could still even be a reference to that, but trying to be slightly less obvious.
Allegedly, at that. We'll never know because there's no due process, and plenty of documented immigrants and even citizens are being swept up in their acts of terror.
Probably what they do after they hawk the items they stole from an apartment. They'd be too scared to break a piggy bank, it would probably freak them out and they'd point guns at random things.
You dont have to look back very far to determine how this started on a low level, this is just aggresive inaappropriate counter-culture , 4chan internet troll, basement dwelling shitheel behaivor from the 90s and 00s but carried over into adult life
Contrarians will always be contrary, so I guess being contrary to a boring "regime" that didnt particularly say or do anything except for ask for generic human rights for everyone, means cosplaying as the most offensive thing you can think of because it makes them mad, Cosplaying as Nazis and even doing the same thing the Nazis did with randomly and incorrectly co-opting norse iconography.
They aren't Nazis just for contrarianisms sake, a large portion of the right wing in the US is inspired by and wants to emulate the Nazis and agree with their racist worldview. A lot of the people trolling and posting ironic racist stuff were just being edgy at some point, but many of them do agree with the things and just troll/joke as a cover.
NS clearly signifies "national socialism" , i.e. what Hitler's party called their ideology. Don't evne worry about the lightning shaped rune in the center.
Gonna be real, I don't think that's got anything to do with Nazism at all and isn't nazi style.... Probably a relationship he has or something or a different affiliation.
for the trained eye from germany this certainly refers to NS -- National Socialism. also, there are s few ways to depict a lightning bolt with a few simple lines. this variant would be the last choice b/c of its ambiguity.
It's not Gothic Germanic, and even then, that's not necessarily nazi either.
Note how the "N" is not the same as the N in the picture which is more akin to what we use
I think the Nazi lightning bolt was a lot different, but I'm not so sure.
To be honest, I think it's more of him and his s/o's initials. That's the first thing that comes to mind when I see it. But could be another Nazi dogwhistle. Who knows. Saw someone else call this "Temu Nazi"
You see British Blackletter being used by right wing extremists often as a replacement for Gothic German Fraktur. Nazis often have no sense of typography.
The actual NSDAP Nazis actually discouraged use of Fraktur, because it was thought to be related to Hebrew writing and pushed Grotesque and Antiqua fonts instead.
perhaps, but as a scuba instructor, I am tired of people saying the underwater sign language for "OK" means white power. Context matters. There still should be some effort to understand the intent of the sender, and not just assume the preconceptions of the receiver are the intent. Somone deciding a word or symbol I have been using for my lifetime suddenly means something else does not change my intent. When a Hindu puts a swastika on their house it clearly does not mean the same thing as when a Nazi does. When a spanish art teacher refers to black paint...etc, etc.. In cases like this, I think we have enough context that the font and details of the symbol are irrelevant. It is clear what his intent is. If the guy did not share those beliefs, given what he does for a living, I would think he would be more careful about using anything that could be mistaken for Nazi symbology.
Oh, “Roman salute” was the excuse. Where they’re silent is if asked which notable groups of people in the 20th century used the “Roman salute”. Strangely, they go even quieter if you give them the hint that they were based in Italy and Germany in the early part of the 20th century.
Meanwhile Americans are holding peaceful protests that will change everything.... Just like the Pro Palestinian protests changed everything, just like the massive global protests stopped the second Gulf War... It's time people realise that while protesting peacefully does bring awareness, it changes nothing, especially when the administration is purposely working against the interests of the majority of the population.
Yeah, Like the last generation was successful in advocating climate activism, the German RAF successfully sparked a revolution with their kidnapping and bombings, like the IRA successfully drove out the English from Northern Ireland or like Ghandi failed to free Britain and the East Germans tore down the wall with dynamite.
The 3.5% theory is extremely questionable. The first paragraph of this article is problematic if you know like 3 things about Philippine politics.
I've dug deeper into the data and it is very opinionated how it defines "success" and violence/nonviolence.
I'm not a pro-violence guy, i defend liberation struggles, buv work to create educational/political/cultural revolution. Also the 3.5% mobilized population would be rad AF in USAmerica.
I haven't read the whole book the study is based on, though I was working on it for a while. But IMO it misrepresents historical fact to make a nice-sounding abstraction, and I'm not sure how people will react to its failure, which would be based on a faulty premise.
We need to be more focused on what we will do with the power that will come from mobilizing like 12 million Americans rather than hoping some members of the political class notice and decide to fix things. The actual problem is that power is kept out of the hands of workers. The thought of building that power and giving it away would be a catastrophic blow to our movements.
The political system is empowered to fix problems, but not equipped. As far as I can tell, the only people who have ever created or fixed a goddamn thing in all of history have been workers.
Is this really an SS style bolt? I'm genuinely asking. And I know a lot of bad faith dialogue starts with that. I'm mostly asking because I don't want to accidentally use something people view as an SS symbol. I hadn't seen anyone call this the SS bolt until a few weeks ago. I always associated the flattened tips with it more.
I mean it's verbatim a black version of the lightning bolt ⚡ emoji on Android - so it could just as easily be that. I'm no fan of ICE, but we've got plenty to be mad at and fight them about. When the arguments seem trivial, we lose face in public opinion.
that's just a normal lightning sign, nothing to see here, move along, the 𝕹𝕾 stands for 𝕹ational 𝕾overeignty of course, a very normal, run-of-the-mill thing to print on your camo helmet while abducting immigrants, please do not be alarmed.
Heck, I remember when Xiaomi had to change fast charging sign from two lightnings to an unreadable vertically stacked lightning because two lightnings in a row were seen as SS symbols by the chronically online. This was just a way to show that more power goes into the battery, Jesus Christ
Openly displaying nazi shit, and that is without a doubt what that is, as a public federal law enforcement official is not overreacting.
Allowing law enforcement to openly be Nazis would be under reacting in fact and frankly I feel like you're not even a member of these United States if you have that opinion.

Probably what they do after they hawk the items they stole from an apartment. They'd be too scared to break a piggy bank, it would probably freak them out and they'd point guns at random things.

You dont have to look back very far to determine how this started on a low level, this is just aggresive inaappropriate counter-culture , 4chan internet troll, basement dwelling shitheel behaivor from the 90s and 00s but carried over into adult life
Contrarians will always be contrary, so I guess being contrary to a boring "regime" that didnt particularly say or do anything except for ask for generic human rights for everyone, means cosplaying as the most offensive thing you can think of because it makes them mad, Cosplaying as Nazis and even doing the same thing the Nazis did with randomly and incorrectly co-opting norse iconography.
tocopherol@lemmy.dbzer0.com · 7 pts · 290d
They aren't Nazis just for contrarianisms sake, a large portion of the right wing in the US is inspired by and wants to emulate the Nazis and agree with their racist worldview. A lot of the people trolling and posting ironic racist stuff were just being edgy at some point, but many of them do agree with the things and just troll/joke as a cover.

They're using the wrong symbol: the rune ᛋ is not a lightning bolt ⚡. That old Norse symbol for sun ☀️ inspired theirs.
Nazis need to get their symbols right. We also need to defend our thunderbolts ⚡ from confusion.

I think the Nazi lightning bolt was a lot different, but I'm not so sure.
To be honest, I think it's more of him and his s/o's initials. That's the first thing that comes to mind when I see it. But could be another Nazi dogwhistle. Who knows. Saw someone else call this "Temu Nazi"
bestboyfriendintheworld@sh.itjust.works · 7 pts · 290d
You see British Blackletter being used by right wing extremists often as a replacement for Gothic German Fraktur. Nazis often have no sense of typography.
The actual NSDAP Nazis actually discouraged use of Fraktur, because it was thought to be related to Hebrew writing and pushed Grotesque and Antiqua fonts instead.

Meissnerscorpsucle@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 289d
perhaps, but as a scuba instructor, I am tired of people saying the underwater sign language for "OK" means white power.
GladiusB@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 289d
Yea. But it's on an ICE agent deporting people because of the color of their skin on an order from a dictator. The context makes it even more obvious.
