Good that you mention it, I should have done that. Yes, virgin olive oil itself has a high breakdown temperature and is fine for cooking. It's just not recommended for deep frying.
As a comparison: unrefined sunflower or rapeseed oil for example are not suitable for heated foods (although both can be expected to be refined, if not stated otherwise). When they are refined, they are fine for even deep frying.
One interesting thing I found: According to the wikipedia smoke point chart, unrefined rapeseed oil is fine for cooking. My german source says it's not.

My sources: English: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Smoke_point_of_cooking_oils
German: https://www.alnatura.de/de-de/magazin/warenkunde/warenkunde-erhitzbare-oele/

That is really interesting. I always wondered what virgin and extra virgin mean (other than just "better quality") but never got to looking it up.

Refined oils usually have the benefit of being able to be heated to a higher temperature before braking down though. This is why most cold pressed oils should not really be used for cooking.

In contemporary practice, villain hitting is often regarded as a modest, quasi-informal occupation typically performed by elderly women in roadside or underpass shrines, although commercial "DIY" kits are also available for the self-motivated.

I don't want to offend any traditions, but the end of that sentence had me laughing quite hard. Also: quite an interesting read.

I just installed PlugBrain yesterday. It gives you increasingly difficult math tasks every x minutes the longer you use Social Media / addicting apps.

Also spoilers ahead here.
I've read it, and i completely agree. The plot is quite sluggish, and after i was finished reading, i wished that i would have dropped it halfway through. The last third, is basically graphic descriptions of torture. And i wouldn't have needed that to get the point of the book. I don't need a happy ending. This isn't what the book is about. But i also don't want 150 pages of literal torture.

Wake me up from Avicii. Don't ask me why, i don't know, it just really grinds my gears. I do like other songs from him, so it's not that.
