There neeeeeeds to be more overlap of people who are both knowlegeable of and opposed to AI. This situation has made my eyes open to how dangerous and prevalent groupthink is. I think mexico is weird because officially it uses metric and a lot of people know that, but as you go north closer to US you get people who say millas, libras etc. This is my experience as a non-mexican who spent a few months over there and drove all throughout it.
Its all semantics. Im curious, can you define what it means to think? Maybe the term is broadening now that we found some kind of similar process that looks like what we imagine thought to be. AI is bad and evil yadda yadda yadda im not defending it i just really like this philosophically or whatever and itsd be cool to hear why you differentiate "thinking" from human thinking
Same, im very interested in the technology, ive followed Machine Learning stuff since before most of the kids using ai to cheat in school were born. But the way things are going, the corpos in control of the cutting edge are making such abhorrent and misanthropic decisions that anything but pure hatred for the use of their tools is unacceptable. I struggle to justify using even local models, i just feel icky now.

Vague is EXACTLY what you want for these types of things, theres less specificity to get hung up on and reject, while the general idea can be expanded upon and legislated in detail once they agree with the core concept. If its your thing, its really your thing, if its not your thing its mildly annoying/occasionally weird. Theres some communities where if youre an outsider its better not to engage with the fandom but thats hard when its your job to interact with these people all day.

real Halo fans waited yeeeaaarrs for that show to come out. i mean i remember being a little kid in middle school and thinking "i can't wait for the halo movie/show to finally come out".
