Lol, the English in Spain refer to themselves as ExPats, everyone else refers tot hem as immigrants.

When I was younger, though, there was kind of a real definition that an expat went to a country for specific work in a specific job, and if that status were to change (you get shitcanned, for example) your immigration status would change as well and you were no longer welcome.

When there were 11 lock downs in our kids school, and 13 or 14 suicides/attempts in our kids district (the youngest being 8, and a successful attempt) within like a 4 month period, as well as our city being the target of a terrorist attack a few years earlier, we got out.

Not going back, either.

OK, so last shopping trip I grabbed a pre cooked, small whole chicken. This was something I usually pass by. NOT the rotisserie or roasted and sold hot, but in a vacume bag, cold, with other 'convenience' type meals. Thing has a 3 week shelf life.

Called it 'emergency chicken' and there it sat....until tonight.

Threw it on some (pre prepped) mixed rice, some broccoli and cauliflower, and even put some juice from the bag over it.

It. Was. Delicious.

Like, juicy, seasoned well and absolutely great for what it is...the emergency chicken will be very useful in the next couple of months to help us get through the busy season.

anecdotally I have an Irish friend who, for years, would travel to the US for vacations, Disney for the kids, the wole shebang- he has a good business & has done well.

2 years ago was their last trip, absolutely sky rocketing prices, the food quality in the shitter and extortion tipping soured him....and he can afford it... I doubt the average world cup travel fan is raking in the cash to lay out for this....it's abysmal.
