Argh them overriding SH2 with this crap is so frustrating. They didn't need to do much. SH2 is already on PC, just do some small improvements for the modern day (ultrawide support, keybind remapping etc) and release it on Steam. But no. Can't have nice things. You gotta have the ultra realism mode with 4k pbr textures for a soda can you can see for 2 seconds. You can't call yourself a modern game if it's not 100GB at least.
Basically everything. I haven't seen a single thing I thought was as good or better than the original. They made fancier graphics but that's about it and I don't care about that. The combat is fucked, the character models look like they were made by someone who only played SH2 once on a bad acid trip and had to remake them from memory.
And why is the game suddenly twice as long?
The deluxe edition pyramid head costume is Konami literally laughing at you for being a dumb fuck.
Why is Maria censored? Last I checked SH2 wasn't rated E for Everyone.
And of the 7 or 8 mainline games (depending on whether you count shazam as mainline or not) the only one that actually deserves a remake is 4: The room. 1-3 still stand the test of time, and Origins-Homecoming-Downpour do not deserve the remake treatment.
Why remake 2? Because Konami holds one thing sacred over all: Money. Ever since the Kojima incident it's been money over everything for them. Art doesn't matter, artistic intent gets in the way.
Remember, they yanked SH from the original devs and gave it to americans, then shelved it when they pumped out low numbers.
Kojima was going to revitalize the franchise but they fired him and shelved the entire thing.
Then they smelled ~~blood ~~money in the water. Gave the game to Blooper Team, who couldn't make a decent game if their lives depended on it, and laughed all the way to the bank.

The job is killing my mum and idk how to help her. Sadly because she doesn’t have education she can’t get any high paying jobs so she has just been doing warehouse work the past 10 years. Although she works in production they make her do warehouse as well. she’s physically exhausted every day, has nightmares and tells me she’s sometimes afraid to fall asleep…
And I feel so helpless…
I mean if I as a experienced dev can’t even find a job anymore, what luck does she have of finding smth new.
I was gonna mention docker because I have a feeling it was created partly just to solve this issue, but it really only works for CLI tools and not GUI ones, so I decided against it.
Docker is a bit of a overkill solution but tbf it works really well.
I don't know where my Linux journey takes me next yet, but I only half way agree with this post. Arch is not quite as bad as this post makes it out to be, but there's definitely always a bit of russian roulette involved in whether your system boots tomorrow or not (most of the time it does).
I just had my EndeavourOS (which is just a thin layer on top of Arch) kill itself and some weird-ass hyperspecific flags in the initrd build process brought it back to life.
Tho in the ~10 years of using arch now I'd say it was still preferable to the extremely stable experience, and I don't think recommending Debian Stable is such a good idea either.
Yeah I could unfuck my EOS system with a bit of trickery, but once you get a good franken debian going, when that thing breaks there's no rescue.
I've had some stuff on Arch break after an upgrade too because some config variable names changed. I rember when I had KDE with i3 going and one day the desktop was gone. Was just because the variable names in KDE had changed and a quick i3 config change was all that was needed.
Having to selectively install packages from other sources because the main repo will keep you on a too outdated version for 6 months is just not a viable idea in today's world.
Ye the skill tree is quite awesome actually. Maybe I should engage with it a bit more b4 quitting. Rn im in the process of converting to a spear build so I'll see how t hat goes
Edit: Just did a quick n dirty spear build while checking which skills fit my playstyle and then tried Xaldin again (for his claws). Damn this build shreds ass. Totally unoptimized build and I'm inclined to agree this is pretty OP. And way more fun than Dual Wield and Greatsword.
