Last time I was at ComiCon there was a booth for the US military and a booth for THC/CBD right next to each other and there was a pack of half a dozen furries checking out both of them.
I had a realization recently that with driverless cars becoming more common that one day I'm going to be stuck in traffic surrounded by dozens of other cars that are completely empty. They'll just be going to pick up a human driver somewhere or going to park and no one will care because instead of eliminating traffic we'll just ensure humans are entertained while stuck in it.
Why bother to fix traffic congestion if you can just play PlayStation the whole time or whatever?
Documentaries always like to show them as geniuses because it's more exciting than the idea that people are oblivious and law enforcement isn't always effective.
This sounds hypothetical and old fashioned but Trump was trying to force hotels to house ICE agents while they do their gestapo shit. So it's still very relevant.
I've also become more and more convinced that these colossal huge general models are not necessary for many useful tasks and smaller more focused models will do just fine for a lot of the workloads people will actually be willing to pay for. Particularly once these companies have to stop selling at a loss.
I don't trust the power of the Elf Stones to any one person but at least Ringo is wise enough to use them properly if and when he chooses to harness their power.

Generally when accuracy matters I ask for a direct link with proof and for the specific part of the doc that is related. I either get exactly that or it'll realize it's hallucinating and can't prove anything.
Hugely wasteful but unfortunately still faster than how unusable search has become.

Sometimes I'll be troubleshooting an application where the developers got a little too creative with error messages and I'll get an "Error: Oopsie woopsie you broke the website!" And I'm like JUST GIVE ME AN ERROR CODE I'M THE ADMINISTRATOR AND I NEED TO ACTUALLY FIX THIS!
Most big LLMs will pass the math off to a more typical service that will solve the math problem deterministically and then pass the result back to the LLM to include in its response.
So yeah LLMs can'tactually do math but from a user perspective they can.
I'm skeptical this wasn't about selling Steam keys on an external site for less than the price on Steam. Plenty of places sell DRM free versions of games at whatever price they want but steam keys can't be discounted on external sites. That price parity is only for steam keys though at least per policy.

I like and use Cloudflare but it's worth mentioning you must use their dns for domains you purchase from them.
