I use a paper notebook, a page per week or month depending on how quickly I fill up the page, I scribble progress bars and check boxes all over it so I'm constantly referring back to it. Once one page fills up I'll copy everything that wasn't finished and is still worth tracking on the last page to the next one. The notebook stays in one spot and never moves so I can't lose it, same with the pencil and the pencil sharpener

I'd say the other part of it is around age 30 is when sustained unhealthy lifestyle choices can start biting. It's not when they kill you, but it's when life starts to give you those warning signs that you should probably do something about that before it gets worse

Death grip should be enough of a reason for dudes to normalize sex toys. Sure you can develop plenty of other unhealthy habits with sex toys, and you can have a perfectly healthy approach without sex toys, but sex toys make it a lot easier to continue to have normal sexual habits once you are sexually active with a partner again

Funnily enough, android being its own ecosystem that happens to use the Linux kernel has led to quite a few improvements over the years in the kernel. Better scheduling, new filesystem drivers (exfat for example) better power management, etc. plus you can use some Linuxy utilities and tricks on Android because it's ultimately just a Linux distro

I think there’s going to have to be a long drawn out transitional period both technologically and socially.

We’d probably need some sort of socialist state in between, and to replace corporations, and eventually other forms of private enterprise, with employee owned and ran co-ops.

People couldn't effectively work together at a societal scale to prevent the spread of COVID-19, I have zero expectation that I'll see anything other than small incremental changes in society as climate change continues to steamroll the world

Ideally it should simply be a friendly reply back of "hey thank you for your concern but BrainBlstrz is a legitimate company that we partner with, you can retrieve the email by [steps] if still you need it" but not everyone can be so reasonable about such things

The argument regarding hyperlinks is generally that there are 1-2 click zero-day vulnerabilities pretty frequently, so clicking a hyperlink will take you to a server controlled by the attacker which may or may not employ one of those. Additionally there's a constantly rotating array of obscure HTML/CSS hacks to trick even the savviest of users into thinking an attacker controlled window is something else or otherwise compromise a users system without utilizing zero-days. And finally good ol' social engineering typically relies on several vectors at once, so by the time someone's clicked the link there's a good chance they might go further for the attacker before they clue in.

So yeah, theoretically if everything was as it should be, clicking the hyperlink and downloading and executing literal malware wouldn't work, but security is about trying to make sure the weak points of every part of the chain don't line up, because when those holes in all of the layers of security line up, you've got a nice big compromise to clean up, and those buggers are like bedbugs, once they get in, you can be chasing them for months or years until you're finally rid of them

If the words "email headers" are anything more than gobblygook to you, then you're not the one the clicker trainings are intended for.

The phish test emails are however quite handy for staying vigilant. When good defenses make it take years for a real phishing email to sneak through, then being already primed by the quarterly phish tests to be suspicious helps ensure that as many people as possible don't get compromised

Someone that goons is engaging a form of extended masturbation without climax.

I mean that's just edging. Gooning is generally more disfunctional than that, typically involving excessive amounts of pornography for an extended period of time combined with an excessively self-deprecating mindset. Gooning should honestly be seen as a form of sexual dysfunction in a similar vein to porn addiction

I've sunk way more hours than I'd ever have thought into My Dystopian Robot Girlfriend. Still haven't finished it at all but really good storyline and honestly the porn aspects can be completely ignored

She clearly didn't pray hard enough. Or she prayed to the wrong god. Or she needs to just accept that this was God's plan for her

I think I threw up in my mouth a little just typing that out

Even things like renewable deployment need some kind of selective dampening to make them work

On this front there's also fun challenges such as Javons Paradox where increased efficiency leads to increased consumption. This was observed all the way back to the Industrial Revolution as coal use did not decrease with increased efficiency but instead coal consumption simply kept increasing as it effectively became a cheaper input for the same amount of output

Yeah GDID works the same in a VM as it does on hardware. It's actually easier to see in action on a VM:

  1. Create a Windows desktop VM
  2. Copy the VM
  3. Create a Window server VM and promote it to being an AD Domain in a new forest
  4. Try to join both copied VMs to the AD Domain. You can't join the second one because the GDID is the same, and you'll literally have to do a reset to get a new GDID for your VM

This was the most annoying part of messing with AD in college was running through the windows setup repeatedly because that's the only way to get more than one client VM for your virtual Windows network
