E-bikes can be great: I still ride my regular bicycles too, but on days where I'm in a hurry, am beat up from rides, or have to haul a lot uphill, e-bikes have been fantastic. I have a Ride1up Portola with a front rack.
I've had this improve after adding lights, cameras, and a good amount of retroreflective tape to help with night riding. Sometimes some drivers really aren't malicious, they just really don't notice because they aren't looking (which is still negligent of course). The lights and reflectors and blinking camera lights help you get noticed, and the camera helps keep otherwise shitty people behaving better (or at least keeps them accountable when they do something like assault someone).
Basically, you just reach over with your non-driver-side hand, which forces you to look every time. Making a conscious effort to look is good, but reaching over helps ensure you face the mirror automatically so it's less of a conscious effort and more a matter of course.
Your responses seem to suggest that they have been open about this all along which comes off as pretty fucking disingenuous and ignores a lot of the other shit they did.
Have they created reports here and there which may or may not have been shown to the public at the time? Sure. So fucking what? That doesn't really excuse anything at all. It doesn't absolve them of what they have done, at all.
There are shitty mods on lemmy too, but there are also, I suspect, some people (though some might not even be people) who are just extremely hostile to anything Fediverse.
Some of them might just be too dumb or lazy to learn how to set the scope of their filters when looking for communities, so they only see their own instance and think it's kind of a dead place, but I suspect a lot of them also argue in bad faith and generally just go out of their way to trash anything they see as a potential reddit competitor whether it's legitimate criticism or not.
This is why I view the learning curve that come with using federated platforms as a nice built in filter that stops a decent number of idiots from staying here.

If you're in a car, use the Dutch reach to exit so you are forced to look and make sure its clear of both cyclists you could injure or kill as well as oncoming traffic that could kill you.
Omnium and Tern make great cargo bikes, but with big pannier bags and a front rack, my Portola has effectively become a mini cargo bike.
