This is my experience almost to a T. I'll add that I think the environment design is the most beautiful in all gaming history (ESPECIALLY the first town in Rebirth), but hardly matters with the story changes and the gameplay just not being strong enough.

Sufficiently, proficient - too arbitrary. There's "skill" associated with all work and therefore all work is skilled work. There's value in people being good at virtually every kind of work (excluding vulture capitalism, etc.)

EDIT: Also FWIW, if think there's no difference between the 1 hour vs. 20 year nail puller, my guess is you're never been even REMOTELY close to this kind of work in your life.

I think a much better definition of a skill is "anything you can get better at". Take the other commenter who pulled nails out of boards. Sure a random guy off the street could probably do it, but compared to someone whose been doing it for years theyd be a total schmuck. If you watched that experienced worker you'd see how much faster they are, the efficiency and precision in their motions, their ability to instantly analyze the best way to her each and every nail out. There's a whole genre of online videos of these types of people - experts in seemingly "menial" work and they do numbers because they make people stop and marvel.

First, you can achieve a whooooole lot outside of a job. I hope for your sake your entire sense of achievement isn't related to your job.

Secondly, even from the quote you pulled they said they don't want to learn anything new "for a job." If they said they weren't interested in learning anything new period I would maybe consider that limiting themselves, but that's not the case. In fact its much more limiting if everything you learn is only in service to a job.

OP sounds like they've figured out the balance they want in life and they want more time for things that aren't related to making money and I applaud them for that.

Strange that yours changed the pronouns. In the original, there are no pronouns (or other gender markers) at all actually, so I'm guessing the translation software is guessing based on the character's name.

This is especially interesting because (Tengoku Daimakyou spoiler) : >!this character is kind of a boy and also kind of a girl so you could use one set of pronouns or another based on how far into the story you are. !<

Looking safe Amigo! Keep that up - that's the most important part!

I did the same thing about half a year ago. No manual experience and had never operated a motorcycle or anything like it. I also stalled a bunch - so much so that I almost failed my class because of it.

But now, even though it hasn't been that long, shit's baby food. I've accidentally taken off in third gear without initially realizing it because my clutch/throttle coordination has just gotten that much better. You'll get a feel for it for sure!

I actually think it's like an art piece. The words crossed out are related to things a technofacist authoritarian regime would censor. They deal with sense of self/community (parents, I'm), personal property ownership (your), words related to resistance (struggle), and moral good (just).

Edit: didn't notice toilet, so maybe not....

Sorry, it's been years and I don't really remember any details. I just picked somewhere that looked interesting found out some info. Then in subsequent runs I opted to head in different directions and they kept revealing information that pointed me back to where I had been the first time.

I totally agree with the exception of the music. I know what you mean because there is minimal music in the "open world" parts of the game, but the actual songs made for the actually interesting places are bangers.

I agree, but I would go beyond just "a game I don't like" to a much more controversial "this game is actually terribly designed".

Because of the way it's designed it's possible to randomly end up with a completely awful experience that ruins its "one time" playability for forever. I know this because it's what happened to me. In my very first time out I ended up at like a 70% progression point to the final answer. Not because I'm "smart" or "good" mind you, I just got "lucky". But it's not actually lucky, because it now means 70% of the game is useless to me. It won't help me get closer to the answer and it will (very frustratingly) take me back to where I've already been.

I think most people would counter saying the world itself is interesting/worth exploring on its own. But in one run I didn't at all become engaged with the world itself (which is very reasonable). Certainly not enough to give a fuck about trying to go out and learn about it for its own sake. If it had taken me more runs to actually make progress then maybe I would've become engaged tangentially while working towards my goals. But alas. And FWIW, I did more than one run. I think overall I played the game for 3ish hours before getting fed up with going in circles.

If random chance can render most of your game not worth exploring, that's bad design. Flat out.

Since no one has mentioned it yet -

If you haven't tried setting Synapse up with the ansible playbook you should. It's almost push-button and has 1:1 voice calls by default. Setting up group voice from there is a bit challenging, but the playbook has a section for it as well if you're willing to try.

Edit: cookbook - > playbook

For those interested in the etymology of the party names at the top:

The democrat side uses the characters "the people", "lord", and "party". My interpretation is "the people are in charge party", which makes sense because democracy is "the rule of the people".

The republican side uses the characters "share", "peace", and "party". To me, this one doesn't have an interpretation that obviously links to republicanism.

The key phrase is "amortization schedule". It's bullshit and for collusory reasons no banks compete on it, they all use the same one.
