I honestly don't know. It might have something to do with connections, because you have to scan on each bus or LRT you take, but I rarely ever do that, and on the occasions I did, there were no double charges as far as I remember.
Maybe they just want you to do it so they can track journeys better?
Edmonton has a transit card that you pre load and then scan on the bus when you get on. The annoying part is that you are also supposed to scan it when you get off the bus, but it's not strictly necessary. So I never do.
What's nice is that they also let you just tap your credit card. The fare is a little bit more expensive (I think 25 cents), but anyone can just hop on and off easily.
I still much prefer the Swiss system, but for North America, Edmonton is pretty ok.
I didn't think that's a thing here. Would be nice though!

I should probably look this up...

Sounds like it wasn't the renewable energy that failed, but the human component.
Not quite where my mind was going, but definitely something along the line of "Fuck it", leave the car right there and just ditch.
Fully plan on. But the fact that it's even looking like the referendum is going to be a thing is bullshit.
I get this sinking feeling that they are planning for the worst possible version of a post money world

It's a toss up between Cave and Cash for me. Both are fantastic songs.

Not including vaping is kinda... Odd.
I got into drinking water by buying some good apple juice and adding some (no a lot. And less over time) to the water in a thermos bottle.
Eventually I got a water filter jug for the fridge and switched to mostly just drinking water, still by filling up the thermos bottle.
I think it's more important to get into the habit of drinking enough first, and you can transition to water later.
Or the German tourists in Italy who were sad that they just missed the ferry to Arrivare, but happy they can still take the one to Partenza.
