Just for the record, I'm not offended by what you think. A world where everyone thought alike would not be a place I want to live. I recently watched 2 films all the way through to the end and they both sucked (IMO). I want my 4 hours back. There have been others I did turn off. Sometimes it's just a mood thing and sometimes its not.
So yeah... it's all good. -OP
Years and years ago, I turned to foreign and independent films. Maybe 1 or 2 Hollywood films a year. I won't watch Part N, or any sequel. Complete gd lack of imagination.
There's no way I can pick "a" favorite. It also would depend on the mood I'm in when you ask, LOL. I use tmdb to keep track of my watches, and really, there are so, so many with a 10/10 score. "Adaptation" is in that 10 list. I'll give you a few that are amazing movies, but probably not popular in the US and you haven't seen unless you're a cinephile. random selection:
Tigers Are Not Afraid (2017)
Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter... and Spring (2003)
Black Orpheus (1959), Greek myth told thru Brazilian cultural lens
Riders of Justice (2021)
Searching for Sugarman (2012), music documentary
Haider (2014), Indian director's Shakespeare retelling
I tend to really like movies that have something to say on a deeper level(s), that remind us how complex it is to be human. Sometimes I have to think about a movie for a few days before I even realize why it worked so well. Sometimes I see a movie and it's fascinating but I'm not sure why. Then I find the "lens" to interpret the film and it opens the whole film for me.
As for which aspect of the film, I'm usually looking at acting. It can make or break the experience for me.
The phrase "One of ours, all of yours" was displayed on a podium during a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) briefing attended by Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem. While images of the podium with the slogan circulated widely on social media, Kristi Noem herself did not say the phrase aloud12.
The slogan has been linked to Nazi Germany, specifically as a reprisal for the killing of an SS officer 45. Musician Tom Morello alleged that the "Trump admin quoted (verbatim) the slogan" 25. However, other reports indicate that Noem defended ICE agents, stating they acted in self-defense and that "criminal, illegal aliens" would be arrested while American citizens would be protected 1. Some sources suggest that the phrase has not been found in historical texts related to 20th-century history 3.
Europe still has birds?
I was imagining that too, but I checked the study and it was 65%
It's on my list for sure. I'm in the middle of SciFi trilogy at the moment.
Oh sure, but let's see Italy beat India in Cricket
Floridiots
Wouldn't be much discussion.

"People will go see sequels, adaptations, and remakes." These are the same people that vote.

plus one
Those Who Remained (2019) This is England (2007)
Plus one.
Thanks for this. Awesome find. I really enjoyed the fictional film Hugo (2011) which featured this "Automaton".
😃. I lived in South Fla in 90s so the movie is special for me too. And south beach was one of few tolerant places.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not defending liars and a$$holes. But it's not useful to misquote without sources.

Never heard that definition put so well. Maybe you should add it to the urban dictionary.
