Most pager systems are actually huge privacy violations. $20 for a software defined radio dongle and a few minutes will give you plaintext pager notifications for hospitals across your state.

Did a project on it when I was breaking into cybersecurity.

There are encrypted paging setups, but there’s a lot of places still running legacy.

I had a realization lately that the last season didn’t just ruin GoT for me. I think it subconsciously ruined TV. I’ve not gotten invested in a non-comedy series since then.

They are? Unless you mean to an arbitrary tip amount like 20%. Businesses are required to pay servers minimum wage if tips don’t make it. It’s still super scummy and they should pay living wages by default, but they can’t just not pay people.

Probably a reference to his “time travelers party”, a tongue-in-cheek way he used to suggest backwards time travel is impossible

They’re not always the smartest in a pinch, but I’ve personally dealt with horses clever enough to repeatedly open latched gates, figure out how to slide barn doors off of their track, and in one case, steal and attempt to hide the pool noodle another horse had been using to smack him all day.

That’s to say nothing for emotional intelligence.

Prey animals don’t have time to stop and think in a panic, but give them time and space to be bored and they figure stuff out.

The Noodler also had a favorite pointy stick that perfectly fit in his mouth. He would poke the others with it.

You don’t even need to go near the speed of light. Modern gps satellites already have to account for relativity. It wouldn’t be seeing yourself significantly older, but it’s a measurable distinction.

You can pretty much survive on black beans and onions.

Iirc, beans have everything you need except for vitamin c, but I could be wrong about that.

You’re unlikely to be lacking most nutrients in a first world country, even eating tons of junk food.

That’s not me saying it’s okay to live on junk food, that’s me saying essential nutrients aren’t going to be your problem.

Edit:

I looked it up. You’ll be missing some components of a complete protein, so eat some grains too.

I used to have an IT client that specialized in translation. I watched in real time as they swung from “we need to ban google translate on our network” (which imo was kind of extreme, like, just hire properly?) to making sure they had access to the latest AI translation models. I couldn’t say if it was better or worse, just felt odd from the outside.
