Right from the start one of them started to show off his new Ray-Bans that recorded video. Common among rich people to brag about something expensive..
My wife asked, what are you recording? he answered without shame.. "I've been recording everyone and nobody knew" with a grin on his face.
Everyone knows him as Cervantes, even though his full name is Miguel de Cervantes. I live in Castilla-La Mancha and everywhere is Quijote.. I even know a lady called Dulcinea.. not a common name btw.

In Spain some of us got an alert for the solar eclipse, I kid you not. And the worst part is that with the loud beeping your first reaction is to turn it off... and by doing that you dismiss the message, so it is useless as fuck. Asking around somebody sent me a screenshot. I couldn't believe this was used for something that stupid.
Yes that is exactly it! I've just learnt it's called the fold method. You can feel the thread and the eye in the fingers it's impressive to see it done fast in one shot, my mom worked knitting and sewing and probably didn't even need to think about it.
It's pretty cool to see once mastered because it takes less than a second and not many catch what happened.
You take the thread and wrap it around the needle and pull tight. Grab the thread with two fingers and pinch it. Slide the needle out and shove the needle's eye into the pinched thread. When the thread goes through, grab it and pull it all the way.
The skill comes into play aiming the eye correctly and doing it fast.
It's probably easier to understand watching a tutorial video.
As an old time computer nerd I have uncountable examples of deprecated knowledge. There is no use in knowing how to use the reserved upper memory in autoexec.bat and config.sys, nor how to use Napster or Kazaa.
But all these skills do shape your brain and way of thinking.
Assembly language taught me to be precise and think before typing. Flash taught me that nothing lasts forever, as big as it might seem.
Eventually, all this adds up and creates a profile that is very demanded in my career.
That said, my mom taught me to thread a needle without looking. And I can't sew, so that's that.
It still requires to be able to be opened from outside with the key. But you aren't far off.. my door has perimeter sliding bolts that activate when double locking.

Derailleur hangers come to mind, some brands use a different version in the same model lineup and model year. It's on purpose to confuse an make it difficult for the average rider to DIY.
Also Cannondale, famous for using non-standard parts (and tools) for no apparent reason.
The perceived value back then was not having to pluck down 25c every time you played at the arcade. So even if the price was high it seemed cheap in the long run.

Well, it doesn't take much to add a GPS computer to the handlebar and heart rate monitor. If you are feeling spendy it could also mean 2 pressure monitors, real time suspension damping valves, power meter, wireless shifting and dropper post.
I think it's kinda genius. High end is all about image. Their sport cars show racing heritage. With EVs they have the opportunity to branch out into something different, and not necessarily have to follow any guidelines. Same happened with their SUVs.
The most important thing is that it has to be recognizable. It won't work if the Uber rich can't tell a Ferrari EV from a Peugeot. And that I think is something they must work on, because it looks too generic.
Thanks! everything is fine because the alert avoided the unattended pan with oil to catch fire. About 6 years ago this happened to a friend and they weren't so lucky.. but could have been much worse. Nobody got hurt, but the entire kitchen had to be renewed. They of course didn't have a smoke detector. As almost nobody has in Spain.
I don't know, but I wasn't aware of any recording light at the time. Or it didn't catch my attention. I'll ask my wife if she remembers..

I've never used nor know of anybody that scrubs a grill.. must be some tradition across the pond.
I just toss the grill into the fire while adding more wood on top. Get it red hot, done.

These exist to double lock from inside when going to bed to feel safer. I don't use this feature but some do, my in-laws for example.
