Basically what this video explains. Channel gets sold -> everything as usual -> small changes -> "we need return for the investment" -> bigger changes -> channel ruined.
Some videos are still worth the watch, it's not a bad channel but it clearly took a quality hit after Derek started being more hands off. Also you can see it on his face how he's just there because of a contract. Good for him though.
His contents are still miles better than some other YouTubers that were bought out. While I'm not pleased with the direction he took, I do not have any qualms with the quality or the content or the depth of topics.
When she first came out, she took her self off camera because she was afraid of abuse and backlash. As far as I know, Linus was nothing but supportive. She just never got back on camera at LMG and eventually moved on
She's active on bluesky and I'm fairly certain starting her own YouTube channel (or already has? I forgot to follow up). I reached out once or twice to say hey, pass on support, and she always messages back.
I still don’t get the hate for Linus. He worked hard, made money and now employs a lot of people. The majority of people who left have only nice things to say about him.
Only a few have bad views and everyone has people who dislike them. A lot of the controversies seem like stupid oversights or mistakes rather than malicious.
I definitely feel like he lost touch a long time ago.
There was a video that was hosted at one of his employee's houses (I've tried to find the video before but couldn't) and there were multiple points where Linus was being incredibly rude to the guy's new home. He was making fun of things for looking cheap, and at one point stood on (or placed something heavy, I don't remember) a table as the owner asked several times not to in fear of it damaging the table. The video didn't really get much attention as far as I'm aware, but it left a bad taste in my mouth and I kinda stopped watching as many of their videos.
A few years later the fiasco with the prototype they sold without permission happened and his reaction and the fallout that ensued took LTT off my subscription list.
The video where he talks about how it just didn't make sense not to buy a private jet was so far beyond out of touch I don't know how anyone thought it was a good idea (the video, not the jet).
There was also a series of videos at his own new house where he's getting the LMG employees to work on things for him at his house.
The power dynamic felt super off like he's rubbing his wealth in their (and our) faces. I'm not mad that he built a business, is doing well and got a nice house with his family. I would have been happy for his success, but the whole vibe of making that into content made it feel uncomfortable to watch. It felt more like he wanted to show off than it being about the tech.
That, and the way he reacted to various scandals including the one you mentioned was extremely poor and his disingenuous reviews, I had to drop them, the list just kept growing.
It's a shame because I liked a lot of the content and I really like Riley, James and the other staff as presenters but my heart sinks any time Linus' face appears again in my feed.
There was also a series of videos at his own new house where he's getting the LMG employees to work on things for him at his house.
Thank you for reminding me of another thing that put me off.
One of the employees that left is quoted as saying, "there's a moment when you're working on your boss's third home when you start to wonder if you'll ever be able to afford your own".
Her defending Eric Weinstein, the crackpot who pretty much everybody knows is a Peter Thiel-funded dickhead with a fake theory of everything, was especially crazy.
I also remember her defending Trump's threats of taking away funding from a certain university, because the university was "anti-semitic" for allowing anti-Zionist protests, but can't find the video now.
This is when I stopped watching. What does an astrophysicist know about gender? Why did she feel the need to insert it into an astrophysics video? Scientists: stay in your lane and recognize you might not be the authority you think you are on every subject. Also, irrelevant to the content at hand.
thats whats happening to her, i guess she far right herself. her video first caught notice, after her "why i left academia, or gave up being a physicist" im guessing she wasnt telling the whole truth to that video, she probably was so difficult to work with in academia, or a job that nobody wants to hire her, or her political leanings were annoying asf, at first she said something about being a woman and being ignored in the field dominated by men. im guessing people in the comments were right: she was the troublemaker.
At some point I noticed that she always sounds like she's talking with clenched teeth, as if she was on speed. Kinda ruined it for me, also her format is kinda lame.
Didn't know about those other things so... Yikes...
Essential Craftsman - he's an older guy who knows a hell of a lot about carpentry and blacksmith work. He dedicated a ep. to Charlie Kirk I felt like finding our my favorite uncle was in the klan. Noped the hell out of his channel as did a lot of others.
didnt Hickok45 do something similar? I think I remember something about him having someone on or having a memorial or something for someone distasteful.. but I cant remember, and may be totally and absolutely wrong.
I generally don't like Hickock45 because if you watch any of his non-gun content he likes to leave things in a hedging, vague, "all I'm saying is..." context and honestly if he can't say what side he's defending then he's kind of just being a douche.
I missed that he did that. I might not agree with that but he really does have a wealth of knowledge, I'm not sure cutting him out entirely is the right call as I haven't noticed it infecting his other videos.
I used to watch a lot of fishing/outdoors channels.
during covid all but one of the outdoor channels I watched either did straight up covid denial, or went full mask off on their right wing extremism in general and with crazy conspiracy theories about covid, so I dropped them.
I also dropped bigclive around the same time, because he thought people getting sick from vaping was, iirc, some kind of government hoax or something, while also engaging in the whole "covids just the cold, stop being silly" type of denialism, Which really sucked cause I used to love his content.. but I havent watched since.
Self-Sufficient Me fell into this category for me. Tons of very relaxing videos about growing fruit and vegetables at home... Then COVID hit and he started talking about "prepping" and "Doomsday" in every video. Didn't work for me anymore after that.
There was another that I just remembered, Survival Lilly, who did survivalist and bushcraft videos. Again, lots of natural outdoor scenery and birdsong and just enjoying the weather and all that, but fell into a bunch of anxiety-inducing Doomsday prepper talk. Just looked her up now and she's gone completely off the rails and is mostly putting out right-wing conspiracy stuff. Bummer.

I must have moved on before the prepping and doomsday stuff, because I totally watched him to, for a long time. I checked out and moved on cause, I dont know, he started feeling preachy and sanctimonious? like, I cant put my finger on a specific example as to where, how or why, so it could have very well just been in my head, but it kinda pushed me away from watching his content after that.
Maybe less direct, but I was a big Joe Robinet fan for a while. After he lost his brother and his dirt bike accident, it felt like he was going off the deep end a bit. Felt sorry but also felt uncomfortable watching.
100%. He takes a majority of his funding from the Koch brothers, and is famous for pushing for "safety 3rd" instead of "safety 1st," I.e go ahead and die as long as it makes someone else money.
Shadiversity. Guy made some really interesting videos breaking down different kinds of historical melee weapons, showing how, when, and why they were used. Genuinely interesting content until he started randomly spewing right wing nonsense a few years ago.
Have you read his book? If not good because it'll kill some of your brain cells if you do. But there's nothing inherently wrong with writing a bad book. Most writers first book won't be great but shadow of the conquer has more problems than just being bad. In it the main character a former genocidal, mass murdering, serial rapist does nothing to redeem himself but gets forgiven anyhow by all the rape victims who got pregnant from the involuntary intercourse because they're so happy with their kids.
It has some troubling attitudes towards a great many things (mainly women) and those attitudes are presented by the book as self evident and true. I find it very telling of the man who wrote it.
I'm disappointed that my fascination for sword staves came from his video, and he turned out to be a bigoted pro AI chud that is jealous of his own brother because his brother is reaping the hard work he put up as an artist
i feel like weapons +right wingers go hand in hand, they are obssesed with it otherwise. i used to followed a channel how these people like owning guns to "Defend" themselves, but then go on a rant how they love to shoot "intruders"
Same, it was really a disappointment to see his descent. Though as I have later learned, he always spouted a lot of nonsense while acting confident, so he didn’t start out very well either.
Watching a lot of sellsword arts, blumineck and others now instead, though it doesn’t fill exactly the same niche.
He's a craftsman and historical weapons enthusiast. He built a trebuchet and did a bunch of videos with it, he's tested various weapons against real steel armor, and he's very forthcoming with what he knows and what he doesn't.
Joshua Weissman, he used to have some good cooking content but it got too brain rotted for me.
Similarly I almost dropped Binging with Babish, but he started a new channel for his non-BWB content and actually put up a classic-style video recently!
I never saw Weissman's supposed glory days, but I did hear people talk about him and checked him out and found him insufferable.
I also dropped Babish, I just got tired of the slop content and the overall drop in quality.
I genuinely think cooking channels have a finite lifespan, because theres only so much you can cook before your audience basically has all the cooking knowledge they need to do everything.
I genuinely think cooking channels have a finite lifespan, because theres only so much you can cook before your audience basically has all the cooking knowledge they need to do everything.
Chef John from Foodwishes has basically kept the same style and Dad joke humour for ages and he is still pumping good stuff weekly
I used to not be able to deal with Chef John's voice inflections, but after enough times, I started to find it soothing. Great, straightforward, no nonsense videos. I haven't tuned into him for a bit, not for any particular reason, but he is a classic.
He was BAD early on with it, he's calmed it down a LOT. That said, the man has never released a recipe on there that wasn't an absolute BANGER. Everytime he checks all the right boxes for the fam, I cook it and get rave reviews.
while there may be near infinite variety in the recipes themselves, theres only so many times you can sit down and watch someone make a soup, or a roast, or a casserole, or what have you, regardless if they have 30,000 different recipes for each.
I used to watch Cowboy Kent Rollins a lot +2 years ago. Great cooking outdoors channel with a family vibe, and his dogs "helping" cooking, with a little bit of history thrown in. Then his content shifted to less of that and more long form podcasts, which I don't do on youtube cuz idgaf about everyone having a podcast now.
He has a new channel called Joshua Weissman recipes, which follows a similar format to his early days (including the cupboard bit). But recently he did a poll about doing a "but better" series on this channel, where 90% said yes. I'm just concerned that this channel might also go down the same path.
So many good cooking YouTube channels. "America's test kitchen" tend to be excellent, with a wide range of topics. I'm a big fan of "Aaron and Claire" for his breezy, chill takes on Korean fusion.
"Not another cooking show" does amazing recipes out of the NYC cooking scence, and of course the champ, "J. Kenji lopez-alt," of serious eats fame, just cooking every damn thing the PNW has to offer.
I left Weissman on sub, but I skipped a lot of his shit. When he draws in othe chefs to fuck with recipes, i'm cool with it and his last one of going to casa bonita and other crazy ass places was more entertaining that it should have been.
fuck I feel this. I used to watch Joshua Weissman videos ALL the time. Then he went from cooking content in his apartment or whatever, got a little popular, wrote a cookbook, and sold out. Now all his content is crappy click baity I ate all the chicken nuggets in Texas so you don't have to. Such low hanging content is worthless to me.
AvE - got introduced him just before he decided to start talking positively about MAGA and the similar Canadian trucker protests. Plenty of other people out there doing teardown my videos, so I bailed.
Rose Anvil - loved his work boot teardowns, but he gradually started promoting his own collabs and seemed to favor certain brands even if they were doing things he called shoddy in other brands. Then he started doing a lot with Jim Green boots in South Africa and making a lot of comments that felt pro-Rhodesia to me and started giving me the ick for watching.
Forgotten Weapons I still watch if there is something of particular interest to me. I used to watch every one, but as the country got more MAGA invested and gun culture felt like it was becoming more toxic than usual, I wasn't happy with Ian staying neutral. If he's worried about losing viewers and connections with gun manufacturers, I get that, but I also don't have to like it or support it.
I agree with you on Forgotten Weapons. Also got kinda skeezed out with all the giveaways that required to to buy ridiculous and overpriced crap for an entry into the raffle.
You might like InRangeTV then, it hits all the stuff. Pro LGBT, Anti Maga, Anti Racist, while producing excellent videos about guns, history, etc.
I was going to mention Karl at InRange as a good example. As a lefty gun owner, it is so rare to find someone in the gun community willing to speak up if they want to have any kind of standing.
C&arsenal I still kinda like, because they seem to steer more clear of any politics in a way better than Ian does, though I don't think I've ever watched their Q&A videos, kinda out of fear at being disappointed after getting meh on Ian. Their videos, while great, are just so dang long! I can't watch 90+ minutes of details on every iteration of rare guns, so I stick to the ones I'm more familiar with.
Oh I dont recall fully, so don't take what I'm about to say as facts..
But I believe the "official" reason was that InRange was taking up time Ian needed to travel to do episodes for Forgotten Weapons.
and I believe the unofficial reason was something to do with the company that originally made and sold the What Would Stoner Do AR for them, And how they ended up outing themselves as assholes for using like..right wing dog whistles and antiLGBT things for discount codes, Which Karl has zero issue calling out on, but Ian was more interested in avoiding making a public stance on any of it and risking being political, and causing any harm to his relationship with that company. So Ian parted ways and, if I recall, has had zero interaction with InRange since.
Again, I reiterate, its been a while since i last brushed up on it, and I may have details wrong, so do not take this as hard and true fact.
ultimately, I don't think we'll ever know the true depth of details until Karl or Ian come out and lay them out in a video. Which will probably never happen
I do somewhat recall some things with Brownells and the ARs, but at that point I was getting tired of the behind the scenes infighting.
I just assumed they decided to split with each other professionally before they started to dislike each other personally.
Ian not wanting to bite the hand that feeds is understandable to a degree, but him walking that path only helps him and the toxic parts of the fanbase.
Thanks for recommend InRangeTV. I was kind of lost about which historical weapon channel to follow, after Forgotten Weapons getting increasingly uncomfortable to watch.
Yeah, I got no time for anyone who finds any entertainment in anything trump related. My extended family is about 80% Trump lovers, and since I can't get rid of them, I can sure as heck choose to ignore anyone I'm not related to.
ave was a huge disappointment. watched him for years and then he started dropping his political beliefs. I get it, people have opinions, and they're entitled to those opinions. hell, feel free to share your opinions on your platform you spent years building. but when you share your political opinions on your nonpolitical platform don't get angry when people leave.
dude was straight dumb as shit for throwing it all away.
Sometimes I question if it's hypocritical to get mad at AvE for sharing opinions I don't like while also being disappointed at someone like Ian at Forgotten Weapons for not bringing up his opinions to try and stay neutral. But at the same time, not addressing a worldwide wave of discrimination and prejudice still feels like taking a stance. Like, is there an acceptable degree of nuance I am missing? Is there some degree of religious intolerance or racism or gender discrimination that should be seen as tolerable? Most things do have some gray area to the conversation, but I just am not feeling that with all the comfort a lot of people now seem to have with treating fellow humans and our planet like crap.
I'm not expecting everyone to draw a line in the sand or anything. I think conversation has lost a lot of nuance. Even just saying something like "I didn't know enough about this topic to have an opinion" is much better than either changing ahead while being ignorant or just rejecting anything you can't currently understand. Refusing to say anything though feels like "I support the thing that is going to make you mad, I'm just afraid to say it."
AvE, for better or worse, at least made it clear who he was. I can respect that to some degree. He at least has conviction. With Ian, I would guess he is something like a conservative libertarian that would support more old school Republicans, but the thing is we'll never know, so while he may support shitty policy to further his personal interests and career, that is still kinda a shitty position when we're talking people's rights and safety being the price for that. And that's the best case scenario. If he's harder right wing than that, it only gets worse.
Talking guns/wati/history I feel it's much harder to dodge taking some stance, because no matter what, every part of that learning ties in with politics. AvE tearing apart stuff and doing shop things rarely needs to lean into politics, so him leaning into it was all on him. I didn't notice anyone calling on him in comments for his political insights.
I suspected AvE was right wing because he always made wife bad jokes. Gotta tip toe around muh wife ey guys hue he hue. But I watched since his teardowns of tools were informative.
Then he bought a CNC machine that probably still filters him to this day, and when I saw the first anti vaccine video during covid with a comment section full of supporters, that was it.
I never know how much of these guys is an act/character for the channel and how much is really them. I took AvE as hamming it up at first, with the jokes and language, exaggerating the blue collar "traditional" humor, but joking or not, venture into science denial or supporting fascist types, I'm out.
I would have been fine if he hadn't used the platform for that shit. No question where his heart lies. but he has no business growing the nazi base with that shit,
Finding out AvE was really dumb as fuck was a gut punch. I really enjoyed his content and it sucked to walk away. But I dropped it cold turkey when the first video supporting the trucker convoy came out.
I block any channel as soon as AI slop creeps into their visuals or their scripts. Sometimes I'll do it even if they use AI slop in their thumbnails. I'm just sick to death of AI slop. Fucking HATE the aesthetics of it.
Kurzgesagt: their video some time ago about current state of the world in terms of conflicts and violent deaths was disgusting. It was an apology to do nothing about the genocides occurring in the tone of "OH these things always have happened don't be sad :))"
I stopped watching for a similar reason but also bc of time. If it's just one game that I wasn’t really going to play (especially not pay for), I didn’t need a whole production. Just need someone I can trust to quickly lay out some key points and move on.
I wonder if he's tired of doing the AVGN character and wants to go on to something else, but he's carved out too big a rut for anyone that supports him to want to support him as anything but The Nerd.
I haven't checked his channel in a while, but I thought they did movie stuff occasionally (it is Cinemassacre after all!) and I thought for a minute they might lean more heavily into that since he seemed to have an equal passion for film as he did video games. I'd watch him just being himself nerding out on movies.
the movie reviews and stuff are just James Rolfe as James Rofle, from what I gather.. he certainly seems much more comfortable and happy doing them, too.
I used to love H3 back in the early days for their It's Time to Stop videos holding people to account. But then they got big and wealthy and had kids and now everything is aimed at whoever doesn't like them, and I mean who tf would given their stance on killing innocent children and journalists. Threw out the t-shirt I bought. Such a disappointment.
Rather annoying, but I don't give a shit about reddit enough to try to fix it. Honestly, using the new UI keeps me from spending too much time there, so that's a bonus.
Was that in the Saw episode? I don't remember it super well, but it had to do with israelis are bad for murdering palestinians. Also some palestinians were bad once for murdering israelis, but it isnt equivalent. We use moral references to decide when violence is justified. Something like that
A lot of the channels that copy his whole primitive living/creating technology from nothing shit have been caught using heavy machinery and other cheats to do a lot of the work off camera.
But you have Primitive Technology, doing it all, slow and steady, by hand, legitimately, like a boss.
A channel that reminds me a lot of Primitive Technology is My Mechanics. It's silent, he fixes/restores stuff. Not the same epic building from scratch vibe as Primitive Technology but for me at least it scratches the same itch.
Pretty much every gun youtuber. So many of them have MAGA vibes. I used to like garandthumb, but his constant anti lgbt quips in the intros made it too hard to give him views
Same but for a different reason. Im from the countryside so I don't have the same hate of car centric infrastructure as most on feddi, what I hate is theres nothing for opensource or real DIY. There is fully open source Arduino based ECMs, jerry rig a turbo and teach us how to dial in fuel and air mixture, or 3d print a cool dashboard with clicky buttons and dials
But nope, all your find on youtube is sponsored aftermarket carplay screens that are ugly as hell or $10k upgrade kits that drop into place. You wont learn any DIY or diagnostic skills
Low buck garage will take an old engine and pile of parts and make it into a working vehicle or he will fix old stuff and tells his thought process along the way. There are some decent youtubers out there but not the big ones
Watch wes work, müjin, the doubtful technician, grind hard plumbing co, there are lots of amazing builders, fixers, DIYers but you gotta find them
The rest of the Yogscast for just generally being shitty people once they hit the six figure earning mark doing things like promising a game and then running away with the crowdfunding.
TotalBiscuit died.
TheSpiffingBrit went from faux elitism to actual elitism and I just don't find him funny anymore.
So it was definitely an act for many years, but shortly after the time he did his big cyberpunk video I feel like his character shifted. As I examine the timeline now, that's around the time he got engaged/married so I can appreciate his priorities shifting. That's not it, though.
What sold me on him being a bit out of touch now was the recent debacle with YouTube changing how views were counted and him being flippant about the whole thing. JoshStrifeHayes actually did a direct video response to that claim which, IMO, expertly dismantled Spiff and demonstrated why not only was he wrong, but also sitt8ng atop a high horse because he is the Spiffing Brit and losing 10k viewers means little to him. He does it on a Tuesday as an experiment, so his hot take of "people go outside bruh" doesn't work for people who only have 7k followers.
After that, the changes I perceived in his character clicked into place for me; he's become elitist and has lost touch with regular working class folks. That's fine and I'm happy he's made it like that, but I don't need to support him any longer. And he's not at all hurting from my lack of views.
I was so gutted when TB got diagnosed. I'm still subscribed in memorium; never found any other reviewer nearly as thorough. Every time I play a new game, I check the options menu immediately. I think of him and wonder what he would say about this game.
I sometimes wonder what TB would become if the cancer didn't kill him. I keep wishing he would turned out decent, but the stress of him dealing with cancer starting to show some cracks. I understand, cancer sucks major ass though.
I stopped watching those two too, but also TYT and anything related to them after the bullshit when Anna Kasparian tried to falsely "me too" Jimmy Dore.
I used to like TYT a long time ago when they were smaller but they eventually became glorified bullies and I was out. The MSNBC thing wasn’t going to work out. Everyone knew that. It wasn’t supposed to. Cenk wanted Fox News dramatics and hostility and thats what he did to cement it.
i dont know about parkman, never clicked on his channel? i think BTC is mostly a resistance grifter more than anything his videos have been critcizes as clickbaity, and his stance is very questionable on political things.
Onision turned out to be a pedo, and JonTron came to believe white people are a minority and other stupid racist shit.
Also GameTheory and all subsequent spinoffs once MatPat left, becsuse despite him saying he was still gonna help out in the background, the shows all became wildly different and are very poorly researched and thought out now.
Surprised it has shown up here already but Bon Appetit. I was watching a lot of it over lockdown in 2020, and then at the end of that year the channel blew up thanks to a mass staff exodus due to discrimination.
VSauce, all three of them. They were peak YouTube way back when, but there was this long pause in videos shortly after they built their big studio, and VSauce 1 started focusing entirely on shorts about uninteresting things and VSauce 3 stopped making videos entirely. 1 and 2 are kinda back at making videos, but their quality jumped off a cliff. Feels like they're making videos out of obligation.
MxR Mods. Two reasons for this, firstly is that I kinda stopped playing Skyrim. The other being that he started focusing almost entirely on lewd mods.
Kurtzhezacht, because their political stance became more and more apparent (billionaires will save the future).
Donut. Its corporate sellout trend-chasing temu garbage and tiktok reaction algorithm bullshit now. I just hope Nolan and Justin leave and make new channels, because I really like them as hosts, but can't bear to watch Donut.
Was a subscriber to game/film/food/fashion theory since Matpap was single nerd recording in a closet. When I moved to watching on pipe pipe I didn't add them to my list. I'm not a fan of indi horror chucky cheese lore, there's no fan theory stuff at this point, and they just got too big for their genre.
Binging with Babish used to be an automatic suggestion to anyone looking to cook more. I loved that he made it accessible, fun, and owned his mistakes. It made it feel like I could do it too and that's why I can now. Now it's all rich white boi vlogs and guest cooks. I'll pass.
Doesn't matter if he never posts another video, I'm never going to unsubscribe from shoddycast. Austin is the only parasocial bond I will allow myself and I miss his content.
Tom Scott - I know he's well loved and hasn't done anything bad, but he's too "British" for me and something makes me cringe with his videos and I can't quite definitively identify what it is.
I haven't ditched them yet but in less and less interested in the content LTT and Veritasium make and they seem to be heading for dropping off my subscription list.
Switch and click - when she pivoted away from mechanical keyboards then I wasn't really interested in her new content.
Whistlindiesel, I already was getting bad vibes from him when he started doing literal vigelante harassment of folks, when he did a video with cops, and his fawning over the Killdozer idiot. Wrapping a lambo in Trump shit was the most "last straw" last straw in history.
It pains me to say it, but I don't watch any new AVGN episodes.
James has gotten into that phase where he's just a parody of himself now. In the old episodes, it seems like he GENUINELY gets angry at the games, but nowadays it's very clear that he's acting. His crude humor and angry rants just come off as obligatory and contrived now. The old episodes had a VIBE to them, like you're in a dark basement playing games with a weird nerd. The new episodes just feel like a polished, scripted show.
And I know James has to make money, but seeing the Nerd do an ad read is just too jarring. I hate it.
eevblog. His constant "covid isn't so bad, people should chill. Governments are shit for trying to protect people" whining during the pandemic made me unsub instantly
Good Mythical Morning - too 'producrd' and they started doing gross shit
Mysterious Universe (YouTube and podcast) - They became rightwing antivax, anti-abortion, anti-mask, homophobic, transphobic, racist losers over the course of 2 years after COVID.
A long time ago I watched DistroTube a lot. He made content about Linux and Emacs, just chatting about it into a mic. It was relaxing content.
Then one day he uploaded a video about his gun, why he has a gun and gun rights and shit. He had all sorts of dumb takes, I don't even remember. After that I just couldn't watch him anymore.
I really liked William Osman back in the day. But there definitely was a tonal shift in his videos after his house burned down and for some reason I just completely lost all interest in his content. I'm not even sure what it is, I just get bummed out whenever I try to watch anything of his.
It was a non-apology. And now he seems to be suggesting that it was extortion. I just...I dunno man. I agree though, the videos are great so it's a real shame.
Asking for money six days before posting the allegations idoes seem a bit like extortion to me. The whole thing is hard to assess because people have taken their posts down.
Caroline Elise's friend shared a screenshot of one message Caroline Elise sent to Callaghan six days before posting the allegations on TikTok.
The message includes the handle of Caroline Elise's Venmo account. She wrote Callaghan could use it if "HBO cuts you a fat check, and you in any way feel like helping contribute to the massive amounts of therapy bills I have accrued."
Edit: Adventures with Purpose. The lying pedo was a major scumbag. Met him once. Knew something was off.
Linus tech tips, after letting his son go through and pick parts to build a computer on top of everything else I just couldn't stand it.
SV Seeker nuked everything so it's not like I would watch it i could but I found the channel because of the build stuff.
Mike Patey, the man had money... yes he works hard. Some people can run on that little sleep. Then he pulled a derp and wrecked the plane on takeoff. Next I start seeing the new mansion build.
Abom79, again I loved the build videos. When my shoulder was healing and I had to sleep sitting up (which sucks so bad they had to give me ambien to sleep just 3 hours) I would watch his videos and get some naps in no clue why but watching the machining was so fascinating but it would make me nod off like a drunk redneck watching NASCAR. Pretty soon it's let's talk about my new tool that some company gave me. And vacation travel.
There was one where a guy in Asia built a house and cleared the land diverted a stream for water and Tools. Had the fish pond etc. No talking just doing things. Then his sister started a channel and things just flopped.
There have been a few others who changed their identity when they got popular. ___

What happened here? I see some things about people being upset about how little he pays his kids for appearing in videos but I'm not sure that's what you're referring to?
He started putting his kids in a few eps. They're in that tween age where they're awkward and he clearly didn't really want to be ont he show, and well it was mutual it wasn't even slightly entertaining. He went down this path of:
I'm going to give my kid this thing if they can X,
I'm going to get my wife to switch to blah.
I'm going to put this person against that lawn mower cutting my grawss,
and this person against that pool cleaner to clean my pool.
It's like he's just drowning in the need to get free gear from vendors for him and his family.
I think he just wants to get his kids' feet wet for the family business but is completely in capable of doing it without making it boring and awkward.
SV Seeker was insane, I was watching that under rated dumpster fire for years. I'm still amazed anyone actually let him launch the boat. Barely floated!
I've dropped all of them in a way. I only go to YouTube to watch the weekly alton brown. Instead of YouTube, I spend 4 bucks a month to watch the stuff that Corridor has on thier website. I'm trying to degoogle and demicrosoft my life.
I can't even remember them all, but it's usually one of the following, in no particular order:
-- Someone who started well but whose channel is now just ads for paid content elsewhere, OR whose content is clearly only there to serve as a vehicle by which to present all their merch, affiliate links, new products, paid collaborations, etc., and/or where the content itself is merely a series of reminders about "check the link in the description!" every two minutes to the extent that even Sponsor Block can't keep up (the art communities tend to have these more than others do)
-- Someone who is casually cruel, or if they mock others in a way that could even be remotely considered serious (Cam Anderson of Blacktail Studios is my sole exception here: mouth like a flamethrower but it's hilarious and clearly not meant seriously except in regard to his ex-roommate, iykyk)
-- Someone who draws me in on content but turns out to have an incessant whine or series of gripes or is embroiled in unending conflicts
-- Someone who leans heavy on religion, or uses voiceover to deliver extended essay-like monologues on some unrelated subject
-- Someone who turns out to be right-wing/fascist or strikes me as a propagandist, and/or delivers propagandistic content that seems to rely on emotional interaction or visceral response from the viewer
-- AI content: I can live with a splash screen/intro or other minor bits, but otherwise I don't want to see it or hear it
I forget the channel names because it’s been awhile and I blocked them from my algorithm. But one literally yelled at his audience for criticizing his gross overuse of AI and the other person (who is white) started saying shit like “black fatigue.”
I really liked Kyle Hill until he started spouting Rationalist bullshit and advocating the views of Eliezer Yudkowsky. He did a video on Rocco’s Basilisk and I dropped his channel.
Mighty cad mods. They went from "how to install a new suspension" to "let's put a 2JZ on a random car for the 25th time" and that got boring really fast.
Soft White Underbelly. It's misery porn. I think people started going on there for promotional purpose. I suspect some might be playing exaggerated versions of themselves.
A few I've watched got outed as creeps or predators (Wilbur Soot, Exurb1a, + a couple others I can't remember)
There was one space news channel I watched who's name I can't remember now (he even showed up in one of Everyday Astronaut's live streams at one point years ago iirc) who turned out to be MAGA and started making videos about how "nAsA iS aCtUaLlY cOmMuNiSt"
My most recent unsub was Brodie Robertson, he was apparently caught sharing loli images in a discord server or something. Apparently the guy who called him out for it is some alt-right grifter, but Brodie's defence amounted to "it's just drawings bro"
I've been watching YouTube as my main source of entertainment for 15+ years so there are countless creators who's content I've just lost interest in too.
I held on when they decided to shift to D&D stuff only for some bizzare reason. I still enjoyed all the skits, and the skits themselves returned eventually.
Then Kyle started doing video essays that just had a personal slant I wasnt fond of. Constantly harping on shows like Arcane S2 and Fallout. This is all completely subjective, opinionated disagreements on my part to be clear.
And some of those essays had points I agreed with, like the Last of Us TV producers having a very gross attitude towards a zombie raping a woman and calling it 'beautiful'.
I just got fed up with seeing them in the end. Plus, for reasons I couldnt work out, the rest of the crew just vanished from the skits after a point, and it became Kyle playing every character.
She's brave to come out as transgender in Texas in the climate we have. I wouldve stuck around to support that much, but I just stopped enjoying the actual content in the end. I dont see a reason to stay subscribed, if my enjoyment going forward boils down to a curated playlist of past videos.
I'm pretty sure she moved to New York before coming out, that's one of the reasons they don't do as many skits because of how far away the rest of the crew is
Matt Carriker (Demolition Ranch, Off The Ranch). stopped watching right around when they started their in-house merch business and stopped being even remotely relatable. The reason I watched in the.first place was because he always seemed so down-to-earth and actually made interesting content.
Major respect for him stepping off the platform a year or so ago. Seems to have some priorities straight I guess.
TBF, this exactly how he got so popular - maybe not the stealing part. He certainly did a lot of crazy shit with guns, but I didn't ever remember him doing it without a huge focus on safety
Not dropped entirely, but Ceave Gaming. I haven't been able to finish a single one of his latest videos, and while I once liked the convoluted way he approaches topics, lately I just want him to get to the point. His latest challenge vids are also fun, but I don't know, I just can't stomach them for long anymore. Not sure if it's just me having less free time or patient, or something more intrinsically in his vids, but I guess at this rate I'll be unsubscribing soonish. :(
I feel like his videos are kind of repeating / smaller now? Like really the big explanations of Mario Maker are kind of… done?
For example, I originally subscribed after seeing his rankings of all enemies from best to worst using some strange personal measurement which was entertaining. But his latest 3 videos, at time of this comment, are just revisiting older videos. I like seeing new stuff. not alterations of old stuff.
I have an youtube account since 2008 and since then a lot of creators came and went. I grew, the creators grew, that's how time works. For example I dropped all Let's Play channels, as I don't watch them anymore. I do watch some gaming channels but not full gameplays anymore. At some point I started watching videos in English, than in German (my native language).
I don't remember any instance, where I dropped a channel, because I specifically didn't like the person anymore. It was either I lost interest in that content, they changed their content or they even stopped doing videos.
Shadiversity was a sword youtuber who would get into occasional e-drama, but still produced interesting content about medieval weaponry. Over time they started releasing pro-AI and culture war rants completely unrelated to their sword stuff. They had another channel that was more streamer/podcasty where they pandered to a right-wing crowd which I guess leaked over into their main channel.
Haters Garage because I saw a Trump sign in his yard
Building Ugly Machines because they got a nice shop and started building nice machines
I Did a Thing and Boy Boy because of their anti-gun collab video. There's nothing quite so uniquely ignorant and irritating as loudly having a strong opinion on something you readily admit to knowing nothing about and openly claiming you will never change your mind about it under any circumstances, ever.
Cam Sandwich because he became Scott the Wozz for board games
When did boyboy and i did a thing "admit to knowing nothing about and openly claiming [they] will never change [their] mind[s] about [guns] under any circumstances, ever"? I thought their critique of that republikan gun guy seemed quite well informed.
Yeah...Im not entirely sure what they are complaining about. It does appear they made some mistakes in the video, but like, they were pretty fair overall.
On top of that, they have the balls to do some crazy shit and help their friends who do crazy shit. Going to Cuba with aid and talking to the folks there? Platforming their friends talking about the genocide going on in Papua New Guinea? That shit is rad as hell, so I'm willing to forgive a few mistakes personally.
Flesh Simulator gave off subtle vibes of being kind of a chud, but he made interesting videos; then he partnered with MDE and put longform content behind a paywall there. I am not giving money to MDE, so MDE can give it to Sam Hyde, so Sam Hyde can give it to neo-nazis, no matter how good the content is; and the fact he defends this at all (and still does, to my knowledge) was enough for me to say "nah let's just watch someone else"
Deleted my Google account once the degoogle of my phone was complete. I dropped 100% of who I followed. Sometimes they still come up in the DuckDuckGo screen and I watch them through there and if they move to any other platform I'll consider it. Maybe.
But I'd rather they moved to Peertube and setup a funding method.
Armoured Skeptic, because he just became a talking nut job once he got into that beef with Logicked. Also appears to have gotten worse since losing ShoeOnHead.
danooct1, good channel but has stopped making new videos again.
Good Mythical Morning. I got tired of them always covering food. I know good mythical more has more range but I got burned out first before bothering. Oh and Stevie left recently.
YouTube. So...all of them, I guess. Nothing about the format ever clicked for me. I can't listen to someone spend ten minutes telling me ten seconds of content. I abhor what YouTube did to content creation on the internet.
What's else to do? He doesn't do gear anymore, and sim racing evolution is completely stuck with half baked games and cramming ffb in every piece of hardware.
Ads and background music. Ads seems to be a trajectory (second stage stopping videos that i only had marginal interest in when ads appear, third stage skipping over videos/channels that have developed an "ad-ick"), BGM is stranger... like they don't test their videos with headphones or i can't hear than talking over the music, or binaural beats make my head feel like it's going to explode.
Pretty recently I stopped watching Oneyplays.
They were a Let's Play/comedy channel in the same vain as Game Grumps and TheRunawayGuys, and they got me through some really hard times including COVID.
They were always kind of risque, but I assumed they knew their jokes were edgy, and not to be said in the real world. (to be fair, that is true with a lot of the old members)
For the last year or two though, most of the best members have left or aren't on half as much as they used to be, and they've been doubling down on their controversial jokes. Everything's "cuck this, soy that, estrogen the other" and half the "jokes" are just homophobic and racial slurs that they have to censor out afterwards. Even if you have a thick skin to that kind of stuff, it's just so repetitive and unfunny now.
Hoovies Garage - He stopped finding and fixing vehicles that I can relate to, and went to supercars I couldn't care less about.
The king of random - went from being mainly constructive to destructive. Even before Grant hired new hosts, he started to do easy break/burn/explode shit. Then he collaborated with Jake Paul and that was the stick that broke the camels back.
Didn't entirely drop, but I'm watching less and less of Well There's Your Problem. I was lucky to find them very early on, when it was still Donoteat01's channel. They're doing their own thing now and don't care what anyone says, that's great, but now they're 90% banter and only 10% content. They are funny but you can't have so much filler. Why are these episodes hours and hours long?
Can't think of anyone i dropped for a specific reason since Roosterteeth/Ryan Heywood. I never really dropped AvE even with his dumb conservative shit because he was always a moron and was up front about it. I guess i will not though because I didnt know he want as cookoo as full magat, but i can see how he'd turn that way.
Idk I saw roosterteeth going toxic for a while and got much more sparing with my subscriptions back then. I'll always shout out Ray Narvaez Jr. And his lovely wife Tina for being some of the best on YouTube for a long time now. Honorary mention to Matt, Chibi, and Nagzz to round out the pissboy crew.
Sounds ridiculous, but somewhat recently stopped watching Jabo cause he started censoring his videos. I can't stand it, I'm well into my 30s and you can say fuck on the Internet. I get pandering to the algorithm, but it is jarring when every other sentence has a bleep in it
NetworkChuck when he started his religious bullshit at the end. He’s a smart guy and had some great content. But peddle your snake oil on a separate channel. I came for the tech, not the sermon.
Pewdiepie, after all the controversies it just pushed us away as we weren’t really comfortable with that even though he was our childhood and got us through a lot. Recently he became more of a family vibe vlogger and personal video stuff which we found really interesting and thought to give him another shot but then he made a server to run ai…
Expected brofist fun vibe, instead we got a browhatthefuck?? And it hasn’t been the same. Watch some just for the morbid curiosity but actually started watching Jack septic eye and mariner’s game plays and while they don’t hit as good as the good old days, they’re fine to have in the background or for a game we want to watch but can’t play due to oof brain or not having money for it.
About a dozen or so channels in the last year that started shoving obnoxious ads in the middle of every video. Even worse when it felt like an infomercial for a completely unrelated and questionable product/company
Sadly, Joe Robinnet. Canadian camping dude. He went through some personal issues, which understandably he discussed on the channel. But then every video started becoming some personal jouney story. I'm doing a bad job of explaining it, but the content just became depressing to the point i couldn't watch him anymore.
Back in the day, I liked to watch Cory Williams and his SMP Films / Mr Safety / DudeLikeHELLA / TheMeanKitty channels, even if they were sometimes completely ridiculous, they were still fun to watch. When he started to Vlog it was still entertaining. The whole "Moving to Alaska" part was still interesting and weird, and I still liked to watch the videos. For TheMeanKitty, in 2018, Loki and then in 2020 Sparta died, so the channel, for the lack of a better word, was dead as well. But his main Channel then only revolved around doing Family vlogs, then game some Game stuff with Motion Capturing and Game Dev. Moving back to Oklahoma and so on. It wasn't interesting to me anymore, and I slowly lost track. I am glad that he now looks happy, and I wish him all the luck.
Another one would be Joshua Weissman. I really liked his initial content, his recipes and guide videos on how to do all sorts of things, like fermentation, making sourdough, pickling and so on. But, as soon as the channel took off and he hired more people, it became a bit weird. The "witty" comments, many times at the expense of his employees, got annoying. I also don't have that much of a Problem with innuendos, but this was overdone at some point. Looking now at the channel videos, it has heavily changed from the food being the focus to Joshua in the Thumbnails. This might be more of an "algorithm" thing, which I get to soon, but I still don't like it. But soon after that, it got more into the direction of "competition" content, the "But better" part, in which he makes some fast food items at home. While it was still interesting to watch, I think it is misleading because even Joshua struggled with the time to make all that stuff in the time to get it, and that, as a professional chef. Not to mention that the usual other time factors like preparations and clean-up aren't factored in as well. Soon after that, it got the MrBeastification.
Around 2 years ago, the channel and videos shifted to the "I did this" or "I tried that" with him basically going around and trying food stuff, rating them, and practically complaining about them most of the time. Funny enough, the last 22 videos (practically the last 10 months) all start with "I". Because of Popular demand, he also added his recipe channel, but, for me, I already lost interest.
I think the time I unsubscribed was when the interview came out, in which he basically said, "yeah, the purpose was to find something that worked and do that all the time", which means that his style of content wasn't going anywhere. Then also came out the allegations of him treating his employees like shit and stealing recipes. This all led to me not being interested anymore.
theres only a few I go out of my way to watch. shadiversity has some guys like I might chat with at a con and pbs spacetime. im not big on you tube and have not used it in awhile.
Basically, all of them, sort of, not really. I use Invidious to not contribute to the money much. It's peak entertainment watching the engineering tubers (ALL of them) do nothing related to the video for half of it, most of which is mostly spent shilling corporations.
asian ytube channel(JKNEWS), had separate for things like "party" and news. during covid they turned magaty after firing one of thier female employees after she spoke up for herself, and trying to ascertain her role on the channel. they did unprofessionally, and then another friend of the channel posted misinformation, just caused a huge backlash and people turned on them. they are still mad that the previous WOMEN employees ruined thier channel, after 5 years getting rid of her.
last i heard thier other businesses were declining and the channel are just them and thier friends ranting about maga related stuff and being elitists asf, they are desperate to keep it alive. they cater soley to incel asian men and muslim men. its actually more to the story than posted, they dont know they are just pushing the stereotype of asians everywhere. they have been a channel since the early 2010s.
one of the co-owners was asking on a video how to skirt some california employee laws(they live in LV).
the channel though they could pivot to maga-try and stay alive, ASIAN people make too small of audience, that isnt digestible outside of the demographic. they were always right wing, but they also had humility to keep them in check, until the misogyny kicked in.
if you know the creepy rich guy bryan johnson(who has the peter thiel youth thing going on) one of the female guests that was heavily featured on the channel was suppose to marry him, but she got breast cancer , rare for a young person and he dumped him, she did unsuccesfully try to sue him.
Yes they do, it's been that way since mid-covid. They even put ads on small channels who aren't eligible for monetisation yet. All part of Google's enshittification strategy. Just use uBlock origin or a third party client
Hasanbi.... I never trusted him and I always knew he was a DNC plant. Was always waiting for his liberal fascist shift. Now he is a full turd butterfly. I watch more constitutional libertarian types now.... and communist.
A hint, this guy used the term 'liberal fascist', this isn't a serious person.
Also anyone who gets kicked out of a DNC event mid-event probably isn't a DNC plant but I guess the DNC spending millions to out-advertise candidates he promotes could be some sort of weird funding scheme.
Fwiw I'm not defending Hasan, but it's a really interesting exercise to see if Hasan haters are even intelligible in their points when they show up.

True, but the change was slow, and Derek still appeared in most of the videos at first.

Basically what this video explains. Channel gets sold -> everything as usual -> small changes -> "we need return for the investment" -> bigger changes -> channel ruined.

they gave the channel to a PE firm, its little more than some to push ads.
olafurp@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 19h
Some videos are still worth the watch, it's not a bad channel but it clearly took a quality hit after Derek started being more hands off. Also you can see it on his face how he's just there because of a contract. Good for him though.

His contents are still miles better than some other YouTubers that were bought out. While I'm not pleased with the direction he took, I do not have any qualms with the quality or the content or the depth of topics.

Linus ..
TORFdot0@lemmy.world · 42 pts · 1d
The other LMG talent is so good. Although I was really disappointed when they let Jonathan and Emily (fka Anthony) go.
But I really enjoy Riley, and James and Elijah aren’t so bad either.
Linus’ “I had to buy a private jet or I’ll lose money” video was so cringeworthy though
faintwhenfree@lemmus.org · 3 pts · 1d
Do you know why was emily let go? Did she do anything wrong? Or just because they didn't want a tran on camera?
TBi@lemmy.world · 34 pts · 1d
From her videos it seemed like she wanted to go out on her own.
TORFdot0@lemmy.world · 17 pts · 1d
When she first came out, she took her self off camera because she was afraid of abuse and backlash. As far as I know, Linus was nothing but supportive. She just never got back on camera at LMG and eventually moved on
SpatchyIsOnline@lemmy.world · 9 pts · 19h
It's sad but I'm hardly surprised she went offline, her coming out video got brigaded by the most disgusting 4chan scum
sen@lemmy.zip · 3 pts · 19h
She's active on bluesky and I'm fairly certain starting her own YouTube channel (or already has? I forgot to follow up). I reached out once or twice to say hey, pass on support, and she always messages back.
TBi@lemmy.world · -1 pts · 1d
I still don’t get the hate for Linus. He worked hard, made money and now employs a lot of people. The majority of people who left have only nice things to say about him.
Only a few have bad views and everyone has people who dislike them. A lot of the controversies seem like stupid oversights or mistakes rather than malicious.
papalonian@lemmy.world · 26 pts · 1d
ADTJ@feddit.uk · 5 pts · 13h
It's a shame because I liked a lot of the content and I really like Riley, James and the other staff as presenters but my heart sinks any time Linus' face appears again in my feed.
papalonian@lemmy.world · 8 pts · 13h
Thank you for reminding me of another thing that put me off.
One of the employees that left is quoted as saying, "there's a moment when you're working on your boss's third home when you start to wonder if you'll ever be able to afford your own".
That stuck with me.

Sabine Hossenfelder, after she went full anti-science, like "and you can trust me because i am a scientist, but not like those other scientists."
I think i stopped watching when she read a fake email to the camera.
dreamy@lemmy.blahaj.zone · 31 pts · 1d

Tollana1234567@lemmy.today · 4 pts · 7h
thats whats happening to her, i guess she far right herself. her video first caught notice, after her "why i left academia, or gave up being a physicist" im guessing she wasnt telling the whole truth to that video, she probably was so difficult to work with in academia, or a job that nobody wants to hire her, or her political leanings were annoying asf, at first she said something about being a woman and being ignored in the field dominated by men. im guessing people in the comments were right: she was the troublemaker.

Krusty@quokk.au · -15 pts · 1d
How do you go full anti-science?
Just because she questions mainstream consensus science which has very little evidence going for it?
That's what a good scientist does. They formulate hypothesis... Theories. Maybe they're right or maybe they're wrong. Who knows.
You don't have to be infallibly correct to be a scientist.

CardboardDecoy@lemmy.world · 10 pts · 1d
I generally don't like Hickock45 because if you watch any of his non-gun content he likes to leave things in a hedging, vague, "all I'm saying is..." context and honestly if he can't say what side he's defending then he's kind of just being a douche.

during covid all but one of the outdoor channels I watched either did straight up covid denial, or went full mask off on their right wing extremism in general and with crazy conspiracy theories about covid, so I dropped them.
I also dropped bigclive around the same time, because he thought people getting sick from vaping was, iirc, some kind of government hoax or something, while also engaging in the whole "covids just the cold, stop being silly" type of denialism, Which really sucked cause I used to love his content.. but I havent watched since.
bcgm3@lemmy.world · 5 pts · 1d
Bummer.
A_Random_Idiot@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 1d
I must have moved on before the prepping and doomsday stuff, because I totally watched him to, for a long time. I checked out and moved on cause, I dont know, he started feeling preachy and sanctimonious? like, I cant put my finger on a specific example as to where, how or why, so it could have very well just been in my head, but it kinda pushed me away from watching his content after that.

Joshua Weissman, he used to have some good cooking content but it got too brain rotted for me.

anon6789@lemmy.world · 41 pts · 1d
A_Random_Idiot@lemmy.world · 25 pts · 1d
I agree with you on Forgotten Weapons. Also got kinda skeezed out with all the giveaways that required to to buy ridiculous and overpriced crap for an entry into the raffle.
You might like InRangeTV then, it hits all the stuff. Pro LGBT, Anti Maga, Anti Racist, while producing excellent videos about guns, history, etc.
I sound like i paid shill dont I :\
anon6789@lemmy.world · 11 pts · 1d
I was going to mention Karl at InRange as a good example. As a lefty gun owner, it is so rare to find someone in the gun community willing to speak up if they want to have any kind of standing.
C&arsenal I still kinda like, because they seem to steer more clear of any politics in a way better than Ian does, though I don't think I've ever watched their Q&A videos, kinda out of fear at being disappointed after getting meh on Ian. Their videos, while great, are just so dang long! I can't watch 90+ minutes of details on every iteration of rare guns, so I stick to the ones I'm more familiar with.
Cris_Citrus@piefed.zip · 5 pts · 1d
Inrange and and Ian from forgotten weapons had like a big falling out over inrangeTVs politics being too critical of rightwing bs if I'm not mistaken
A_Random_Idiot@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 1d
Cris_Citrus@piefed.zip · 1 pts · 1d
I'll take the added context with the appropriate grain of salt, thanks for the additional info!
A_Random_Idiot@lemmy.world · 2 pts · 1d
ultimately, I don't think we'll ever know the true depth of details until Karl or Ian come out and lay them out in a video. Which will probably never happen
anon6789@lemmy.world · 4 pts · 1d
I do somewhat recall some things with Brownells and the ARs, but at that point I was getting tired of the behind the scenes infighting.
I just assumed they decided to split with each other professionally before they started to dislike each other personally.
Ian not wanting to bite the hand that feeds is understandable to a degree, but him walking that path only helps him and the toxic parts of the fanbase.

ave was a huge disappointment. watched him for years and then he started dropping his political beliefs. I get it, people have opinions, and they're entitled to those opinions. hell, feel free to share your opinions on your platform you spent years building. but when you share your political opinions on your nonpolitical platform don't get angry when people leave.
dude was straight dumb as shit for throwing it all away.
anon6789@lemmy.world · 3 pts · 1d
BurgerBaron@quokk.au · 9 pts · 23h
I suspected AvE was right wing because he always made wife bad jokes. Gotta tip toe around muh wife ey guys hue he hue. But I watched since his teardowns of tools were informative.

I hate it.

I'm going to put this person against that lawn mower cutting my grawss, and this person against that pool cleaner to clean my pool.
It's like he's just drowning in the need to get free gear from vendors for him and his family.
I think he just wants to get his kids' feet wet for the family business but is completely in capable of doing it without making it boring and awkward.

Yesterday, I did drop one when I found they had gated some of their content.

Pewdiepie, after all the controversies it just pushed us away as we weren’t really comfortable with that even though he was our childhood and got us through a lot. Recently he became more of a family vibe vlogger and personal video stuff which we found really interesting and thought to give him another shot but then he made a server to run ai… Expected brofist fun vibe, instead we got a browhatthefuck?? And it hasn’t been the same. Watch some just for the morbid curiosity but actually started watching Jack septic eye and mariner’s game plays and while they don’t hit as good as the good old days, they’re fine to have in the background or for a game we want to watch but can’t play due to oof brain or not having money for it.

About a dozen or so channels in the last year that started shoving obnoxious ads in the middle of every video. Even worse when it felt like an infomercial for a completely unrelated and questionable product/company
NormalHumanBreathing@lemmy.world · 1 pts · 3h

Hasanbi.... I never trusted him and I always knew he was a DNC plant. Was always waiting for his liberal fascist shift. Now he is a full turd butterfly. I watch more constitutional libertarian types now.... and communist.
naught101@lemmy.world · 20 pts · 1d
How is he a DNC plant? He's been backing anti-establishment candidates the whole time?
Edit: oh, do you mean you just don't like communists, and therefore the DNC must be using him to prevent libertarian candidates succeeding?
CardboardDecoy@lemmy.world · 25 pts · 1d
A hint, this guy used the term 'liberal fascist', this isn't a serious person.
Also anyone who gets kicked out of a DNC event mid-event probably isn't a DNC plant but I guess the DNC spending millions to out-advertise candidates he promotes could be some sort of weird funding scheme.
Fwiw I'm not defending Hasan, but it's a really interesting exercise to see if Hasan haters are even intelligible in their points when they show up.
