Electrical tape + heat + time = a sticky gross mess you'll have to deal with in a couple of years

This the same guy who made calls for child labour to be legalised and for the civil rights act to be repealed... I'm gonna go out on a limb and say this isn't (deliberately) satire

I actually wonder sometimes how it's survived this long

So I've been involved with the repo a little (just some basic issue triage and documentation stuff) and all I can say is that Yuliskov has made that project his life's work. If anything happens to him, we're all screwed!

This might not be the most helpful suggestion for apps you already have installed (I'll leave that to others lol) but any time I have to set up Windows for a friend or family member, I do a complete minimal reinstall using an autounattend.xml script (this is an official method that sysadmins use to set up lots of machines quickly, but can also be used to avoid Microsoft's bullshit from the very start) you can create your own easily here

I then use UniGetUI to install and manage all apps, this is a graphical frontend for Winget and Chocolatey that allows you to install virtually anything with an app store-like experience, but without the locked down ecosystem. The people I've introduced this to actually love it but it always takes a little explaining that this is how to do things now and they shouldn't go downloading app installers from websites.

So I've done a bit of research on this and I don't think what you say here is the most accurate.

LineageOS doesn't include any Google apps or services by default, nor does it include MicroG. (It does give an optional step to flash a GApps package in the official install guides, but this can be skipped no problem)

LineageOS does use proprietary Google BLOBs for AGPS services and wifi captive portal detection, both of which are anonymised by the nature of the protocols used. But more importantly, /e/ OS also uses these too, so /e/ shouldn't be ranked any higher than LineageOS is

I'd classify it more as a syrup, but whether syrups are just a subset of "goo" is up to you
