As is usually the case, blame can be laid squarely at the feet of the French.

Yes, actually I've ceased actively looking for a partner for the better part of a year now. Little has changed, except I now have fewer apps on my phone. (I do still maintain one dating profile on an open source app but I check it on the order of twice a year because the app is dead, feel free to guess which)

More room for memes is cool, I guess

also I've tried solicited advice and it rarely helps either, so I don't really care. It's on me whether I follow it, and terrible advice is usually not subtle to everyone reading in a public forum. Do your worst, none of us are getting any younger.

every year I get a little older, a little more damaged, and a little less desirable; and the age bracket of people I'd be interested in get more baggage of their own and have more expectations of a potential partner. I'm in my late 20s living with family, and nobody really wants to date me already; I can't fathom that will improve any in the future being a 30-something living with family (as I will likely still be too poor to leave).

Probably gonna die alone. Can't wait, this place sucks anyhow.

Please don't give them ideas. Fido's one thing, but at least that's a sentient being that can feel pain. Officer Clanker, I hope to god, Satan, the FSM, Jibbers Crabst and whatever other deity may listen, is many many decades away.

If they start declaring inanimate fucking objects or robots to be police officers, all it will mean is that the penalty for vandalism and cop killing is the same... so you might as well earn it.

REISUB basically does the same thing but slightly more gracefully. It will still reboot through basically any lockup (I have yet to encounter one it didn't work on), but it gives your machine the chance to settle some things before cutting the power.

If a Linux machine locks up or freezes completely, use REISUB to restart it more gently than pushing the Power Button.

Hold down Alt and the SysReq (Print Screen) keys, and then type R E I S U B, with 2-3 second delays between the key presses to give the commands a better chance to complete.

R: Switch the keyboard from raw mode to XLATE mode
E: Send the SIGTERM signal to all processes except init
I: Send the SIGKILL signal to all processes except init
S: Sync all mounted filesystems
U: Remount all mounted filesystems in read-only mode
B: Immediately reboot the system, without unmounting partitions or syncing

I suppose if you wanted to be extra quick and liked living dangerously you could just do alt + sysrq + R + B (I'm assuming switching the keyboard mode is necessary for getting the other commands to work during a complete lockup, but I could be wrong, you might only need B). But I wouldn't recommend it, REISUB is plenty fast for me.

There are other commands too, like alt + sysrq + F to summon the OOM killer.

Lastly, and perhaps most critically, it also feels way cooler than just holding a single button. Comme ça:

Claude has on two occasions ended our conversation because I kept referring to it as a useless piece of shit.

the fact this is even a thing, that a glorified autocorrect has the gall, the temerity to pretend it has hurt feelings, is one of the reasons I feel more and more like fucking off into the wilderness and living like Ted Kaczynski.

oh, but we won't charge you until your 30 days is up, you can just cancel before then!*

*please forget please forget please let us charge you when you least expect it oh god please forget about us you fucking stupid forgetful dope

-- how I interpret "free trials" that work like this. You can terminate my service when my trial is up, you do not need my credit card information until I've actually agreed to purchase the service. There is literally no practical reason they can't just do that instead -- except, of course, that it makes them more money off of forgotten trial subscriptions.

so the answer is "he was a dumbass who had not seen or known about the multiple historical examples of green copper roofs enough to know that that would eventually happen to the statue and thought the tarnishing would just magically stop on its own before then".

Great, that's all you had to say, would've been nice to have some sources too (generally, it falls on the person making the claim to provide sources ;3) but I can at least find some reference (after some google excavation, digging through bullshit) to back up your claim about him later wanting it covered in gold for reflectivity. And since I have no interest in reading another comment from you, I'll call that good enough. Bye now.
