Police work in our world. Vigilante justice is bad in our world. That doesn't mean that you can't construct a universe where vigilante justice is better.
As mentioned in the other comment thread, there are prisons in alternate dimensioms that prisoners still somehow escape. Moving the prison might be a bigger waste of money than batman.
It's been shown in the comics that most public services there are either corrupt or ineffective. Pouring more money into them won't help. Becoming a mayor means you are beholden to the other politicians there, many of whom are corrupt.
Batman's vigilante justice is plenty well justified in the comics.

At a large scale it can be used for planning and logistics. Prediction that Bob wants a pizza? Re-route dasher A to be closer to the pizza place so that dasher A can fulfill more orders once Bob makes the order.
Prediction that Bob hates big tech, would never buy premium doordash, and is only ordering today because he has no other choice? Deprioritize his order, he can get his pizza cold.

You're talking about potential implementations. EFF is talking about issues in current implementation. As I said in my very first comment, I'm sure it can be done properly. The EFF is worried that if the current implementation is rolled out now, the system will stay unfixed for years and make privacy even worse.
But anyways, since you seem knowledgeable about the EUDI implementation and I'm too lazy to look it up, do you know if the current implementation allows a website to collude with the issuer to get the identity of a user?
