I find myself continuously explaining to people how much of a benefit youth sports can be (soccer referee here) and how playing with your peers can be a really good form of mental growth and stability, and denying that to individuals because their outward appearance doesn't match their gender causes irreparable harm during a child's most formative years.
The chance that someone loses a scholarship to a trans child is infinitesimally small and the harm that is being caused to trans children through exclusion is guaranteed. The "think of the children" argument only works when you don't include the trans child themselves in the equation. Otherwise the choice is simple.
That's exactly why I'm NB (and why my pronouns are they/any) - gender as a social construct is dumb. However, everyone should be able to express themselves however they want in the way that makes them the happiest.

One of the most frustrating parts to me is how the Sky commentators (while generally better) fail to understand how to explain how the regs work routinely. These cars are filling and emptying their batteries regularly because they're limited on their deployment per lap, but they continuously talk about how someone might be low on energy because of something that happened a couple laps ago when that would have no effect anymore.
I'm generally a fan of the close racing that these regs have produced at the beginning of races, even if it is somewhat artificial (but so is DRS, so...). What I'm not a fan of is what other people have mentioned: the lack of data on screen. The sport evolved immensely in what matters in battles this year, but we never actually get to see that. Like, when is someone boosting? Maybe we can tell or maybe that was just their regular deployment, or they changed a deployment strat for this lap? Showing how much energy someone has consumed during a lap would also help us understand if they are about to make a move at the end of a lap because they've saved slightly more energy than the car in front.
I guess what I'm saying is I'm not as much of a doomer as most people from the ideas that these regs attempted to introduce, but I think they missed the mark in execution.
My SO bought the dress for me off of Amazon of all places. I've not found anything else like it. It's still the only dress I own myself because I haven't found anything else that fits me (not physically but emotionally 😂). Thank you so much for the compliments 💜

I've waffled between they/them and any/all, but I have ended up compromising on they/any as a reminder to whoever understands that while I may prefer they that I'm going to respond to you no matter how you refer to me as long as you're respectful and I can tell you're talking about me.
Personally I think that gender as a social construct is dumb and so I'm choosing in my own way to show that (hence NB even though I'm choosing to dress more femme). And I will fight to the death to allow my brothers and sisters to express themselves however they want to.
Thank you for the warm welcome 💜 I've technically been out to myself for about 2 years now and I was mentally preparing myself to be publicly out but then the election happened and I got scared (even though I'm in a trans friendly state) so at this point I'm only out to a handful of people irl, not even my family (who I think would be confused but accept me, but I'm not sure they'd be able to keep it a secret which is why I've hesitated coming out to them). I told myself that it'd be easy enough to hide using my "cis male privilege" until I felt like I (and therefore my SO and family) wouldn't be in danger by being out publicly, and instead I've been doing my best to help out others who are in their journey. Y'all inspire me so much - I feel like a fraud when I lurk in these spaces 😂
Not just country but world now. Their K-8 program is a great entry into STEM as it is both an engineering challenge with the robot game and also the project that comes along with it (usually to design or organize around a certain challenge or theme).
FIRST also does a great job with their core values. They attempt to instill what they call Gracious Professionalism in everything that the program does. Basically, FIRST can be looked at as a program that tries to build good, competent people through the mechanism of a robot competition. In fact, the highest level award in the program is based around the impact that a team has on their community rather than how well a teams robot performs.
I might be a little biased, however, as I've been involved with the program (in the high school level competition) for about 17 years now. I know there are other programs out there that offer similar levels of STEM training, but none that build up people in the same fashion.
Something to keep in mind with VEX is that they just split with the organization that runs all of their competitions, so there's likely changes coming soon. Also, the company itself has had some... Culture issues, so I personally try to avoid using their products where possible.
The Lioness Quartet and the Protector of the Small Quartet by Tamora Pierce may fit the bill here. They may be aimed more at a teen audience, but both are about girls needing to prove themselves in the face of a lot of adversity.
These books helped to shape my worldview when I was younger and they hold a very special place in my heart.
It's okay. I've got a few side projects in node and I also don't see anything too out of the ordinary here. If anything this looks more like someone's first project with some "make it work" rather than being perfect and pretty.
I don't understand the hostility. Even the bits that this guy talks about (duplicated code?) nothing looked duplicated - sure the names of the folders are the same but that's more of a naming convention problem when you have a client that needs to connect to servers (or in this case has screens and functionality to connect to servers).
And now I've probably spent more time and brainpower on this than I should have just because I was confused.
