It's why I have a lot of issues getting off of YouTube. I'm not on YouTube because their interface is nice, I'm on YouTube because the people I want to watch don't post shit elsewhere. It's a cycle, to get users we need stuff, and for stuff we need creators, and for creators we need users. When it comes to online platforms we don't need an alternative to YouTube, we need an alternative to Markiplier, which is harder to come up with.
If you can get your friends, and family onto Friendica that would help quite a bit. The problem is that using a new server is hard for the end user (I would know, all of my fediverse presence is on servers I host), and telling someone "Use Friendica" is like telling someone to "Use email". Get a Friendica/Mastodon/Whatever server, and keep it in your back pocket. Give them a link to that server, not to Friendica/Mastodon/Whatever as a whole.
Admittedly I don't know how hard it is to stop using Facebook because I stopped using Facebook right after they took away the chronological timeline, and stopped using Messenger a few years ago. But spending some time to get a timeline together that you can boost will help any new users you recruit. Crucially, to promote viable alternatives, you need to be part of the viable alternatives, otherwise you're just someone telling someone to jump into something new with 0 guidance, which is a good way to have them leave.
I would say "Talk about us" before the massage just to be safe, but assuming his response was that, he probably knows. Especially given you said "Talk about us" and "Massage (Something that is typically reserved for romantic partners, or paying customers)" in the same thought. I'm not actually that surprised by that, given they have the McCafe line of coffee drinks. I admittedly haven't had fast food coffee aside a handful of times at Starbucks, and I think I had a McCafe drink once out of pure curiosity? They were fine
1: Get the coffee from any fast food restaurant delivered (Burger King is real bad)
2: (Optional) Microwave it since it'll probably be cold
3: Too Much store brand flavored creamer (not cream, can't have real dairy) in it
4: Topped with the fakest whipped "cream" you can find. Preferably just a spoonful of the stuff you find in the freezer aisle
Technically still coffee, but I think this would be illegal to serve in at least 50 countries. Will be a solid 1/10 cup at best, both in terms of taste, and aesthetics
It's basically reddit. If you want to find communities (subreddits) you can search for them on your instance (the server you're on, in your case it's Lemmy.world), or look on lemmyverse.net. You're on a more populated instance, so discovery will be less of an issue for you.

Lots of people are also mad about DRM, it's just also an older argument, so less new. Also with physical media DRM will inevitably be cracked, so it's less of a forever barrier than not being able to own the game on disc.
It also affects people who don't care about DRM. Collectors can't get games for their shelf anymore. You can't sell a game you've played to get back some of the cash. You can't tell friends to look at your shelf to see what games you have, which isn't that bad with one console, but if you have all 3 of the major ones you suddenly have to boot up 3 consoles instead of looking at one shelf.
Also, just human psychology: We hate change. DRM has been in games for longer than a lot of gamers have been alive, discs disappearing just happened.

A pair of Boye circular needles, and some of the cheap pound of yarns. Should cost you under $20 US. Find a tutorial online, a book, however you learn the best, and just kinda go. Recommended first project is a scarf, because they very immediately show you if your tension is inconsistent.
Don't worry too much about how you hold the yarn at first, however I would recommend learning continental as soon as you're comfortable knitting, because repetitive stress injuries hurt more than you expect.
I say circulars because if you do stick with it, I find circular needles far more comfortable to knit on straight needles, and they're about the same price
I say grab a pound because if you're into knitting the yarn will last you a bit longer
One thing: is it possible to knit machine washable wear? That’s something about wool clothing that has always made me cautious: the fact that you can’t wash them. Blankets, sweaters, scarfs…is there a starter yarn that can be washed?
Most animal fibers aren't machine washable, most plant fibers are, and a far as I've seen all synthetics are. Most cheap starter yarn is machine washable. Redheart/Lion/Caron acrylics all are, which is the cheapest yarn you'll find, and most of what I've knitted with in the ~27 years I've been knitting.
Bonus tip: If you end up not being a huge fan of knitting, but still want to use the yarn for something, crochet might work for you, and crochet hooks are cheap. You can usually pick them up for under $5. Some people don't do well knitting, but do well with crochet, and vice versa. Both starter projects tend to be scarves for tension reasons.
