Yes, nobody should be harassing customer service employees. They are not the ones who made this decision and aren't able to change it.

Sony image sensors and TV panels are some of the best. Everything else they touch is fucking garbage. It's amazing they have manged to stick around this long.

Because if the game isn't for me I can sell it. I can share them with friends easily. I can install and play a game if my network has issues. I can buy games way cheaper than the insane PS store prices as there is actual competition in physical media sales.

2. Sony will delete digital purchases from customer devices and not compensate the customers. Other companies have done it, but Sony seems to do it more often than anyone.

Because without physical games there is no secondhand market. If the only place you can buy PlayStation games is Sony's digital only store, they have no incentive to lower prices and can revoke access whenever they want.

We have sellers like Amazon removing items from their store, which are then fully unavailable to the consumer. They also allow people who have shit internet to be able to play games. I knew someone in college who tried installing Terraria and got an ETA of ~12 hours.

Lots of people are also mad about DRM, it's just also an older argument, so less new. Also with physical media DRM will inevitably be cracked, so it's less of a forever barrier than not being able to own the game on disc.

It also affects people who don't care about DRM. Collectors can't get games for their shelf anymore. You can't sell a game you've played to get back some of the cash. You can't tell friends to look at your shelf to see what games you have, which isn't that bad with one console, but if you have all 3 of the major ones you suddenly have to boot up 3 consoles instead of looking at one shelf.

Also, just human psychology: We hate change. DRM has been in games for longer than a lot of gamers have been alive, discs disappearing just happened.

Physical media doesn't really contain the whole game anymore since most games get a day 1 patch and further patches to make them actually release-quality, BUT the physical media still represents what people consider to be an irrevocable license. People expect purchasing games to be like purchasing a super Nintendo game back in the day was. No one can take it away from you. If there were strong consumer rights around the purchase of digital media people probably wouldn't care as much, but in the meantime we have Sony actively demonstrating they will fuck you over by removing movies from people's accounts.

Also, I can buy a physical game copy and share it with my friends and family when I'm done. Not being able to do that is a giant middle finger in this.

If you don't have a physical copy (without online DRM) then you do not even own it. You purchased a lease with an unknown expiration for the full price of a game.
